How to improve breakthrough & infantry experience in 2042

Flanking is what makes breakthrough breakthrough. Without it, you're left with a sub-par experience that's more like a watered-down outdoor metro where vehicles farm infantry chokepoints. Heck, conquest grind had better flanking opportunities on a single bridge because you weren't spotted/wallhacked 24/7. The best mode in BF history btw ;]
Anyways, here are a few suggestions to improve the breakthrough and infantry experience in Battlefield 2042.

- The sentry gun spots enemies, wallhacks, shoots through smoke and as of today doesn't despawn until the operator fully bleeds out.
+ Make it spot vehicles and gadgets only, remove the wallhacking and just let it be a traditional sentry gun. You can always increase the durability if it turns out to be too underpowered.

- The prox sensor spots for far too long with zero risk to the operator. Nobody is scanning the ground for these and makes suppressors completely redundant. No need to stay off the minimap when you're spotted 24/7.
+ Remove the minimap spotting and keep 3D spotting [or vice versa]. This way players will need to move and get enemies in their FOV before being rewarded.

- Smoke grenades don't last long enough, today's patch nerfed deploy time and the AoE is too small when you take the huge map sizes into account.
+ Increase the duration, revert deploy time and increase AoE to help infantry rotate around the map

- EMP grenades are great and effective but landing them on target is quite difficult when you can't afford to peak more than half a second. Most times I fail to hit the sentry gun or vehicle.
+ Increase the blast radius pls

- Infantry ammo is based on a 64p game mode and isn't enough for a 128p mode. One extra drum mag for the AK? One extra drum mag for the Scar? One extra drum mag for the MP9? But unlimited ammo and super fast replenish rate for the Bolte?
+ Increase reserve ammo for every weapon. More players = more bullets.

- Koliadescope is the smallest map, the most open map and the flattest map in 2042.
+ Remove powerful vehicles entirely and bring down the sky scrapper objective.

- Worst weapon attachment system I've seen in an FPS game so far. Suppressors still show you up on the minimap within 20M and make every gun an extra BTK. Larger mags reduce the rate of fire and ect.
+ Remove all the * as there aren't enough attachments available to offset the * like in COD.

- Worse gunplay I've ever seen in an FPS game so far which is strange because the beta had the best BF gunplay ever. The weapon balance was almost perfect too but presently none out of the 22 weapons are fun to use unless you're a sniper.
+ Reduce spread and recoil drastically. Perhaps consider reducing the long-range TTK since all engagements are farther away. I know why it was done but getting beamed from 40m+ is much less annoying than not being able to shoot straight and get a single kill yourself.

- Bolte is overpowered against infantry but can easily be taken down. The problem is nobody wants to stop the shooting part and spend time hunting vehicles.
+ Spawn cooldown, nerf the range and splash damage. That said, I'm assuming most of the remaining players enjoying 2042 right now are vehicle players and I'm reluctant to nerf their fun. Maybe just let it be their BF? Infantry had a great run in the past 2 games lol

- Lack of map selection and variety.
+ Can we merge UK and EU servers to offer us a larger pool of players and maps?

BUG - Applying armour or healing sometimes requires you to hold and sometimes toggle. It's not very consistent and the bug where it attempts to plate/heal but cancels got me killed a lot of times. Not referring to taking damage cancelling armour/healing.

POSITIVES
+ Movement is still incredible and doesn't require any attention outside of potential bugs. Pls don't nerf it
+ Discarded is the best map in 2042. Make more of those maps pls.
+ Matchmaking has been quick and easy so far even with crossplay turned off.
+ 128 players can work well on the right map [discarded]
+ Battlefield is not a bad game and once all the bad issues are sorted [lots]. It can easily be one of the best Battlefield games out there.

Thanks for reading my feedback. Hope it helps.

  • @SG-36Main I'm sure they're aware of many of this stuff but haven't heard anything about them fixing any of it. Until they move capture points off of skyscrapers I'm going to avoid this game like the plague.

I believe they're looking into it but was worth mentioning because there are more maps with rooftop objectives. Can relate, I always leave when it gets to that point.

Unless capture points are moved from the top of skyscrapers nothing else matters. Essentially makes the game unplayable, not enjoyable in the slightest currently.
