I suspect it will never be fixed after it was nerfed. DICE don't seem interested in making it easier for infantry to attack vehicles.

The thing is this is a skillful way to destroy vehicles. And it honestly wouldn't make any difference to the pilot who is already bombarded with lock-ons. Would be a welcome change, to increase the duration or ammo count.
Only time I use the tracer dart is when I'm sniping on Hourglass defense, to try to get the T1. Otherwise Soflam spots the entire team from B sector.
