I feel like a lot of players don’t understand the objective in breakthrough

In back to back to back losses as a defender on breakthrough, it has occurred to me that my teammates either don’t understand the game mode or are just kill-hungry.

Basically half the team set up a perimeter outside the objective (not at the frontline) and shot at the enemies who entered it. Okay not too bad of a tactic but the frustration comes when we get overran and they are still standing outside the objective letting it get captured. Like what?? Then I storm the objective trying to sweep up the attackers and PUT A BODY in the play area to try to hold it but it’s 2 defenders and 7 attackers. Meanwhile, the majority of my team is still standing outside the objective taking potshots as the objective quickly gets captured with no defenders in the capture area. Does anyone else notice this * or am I just irrationally frustrated??

@Agent10_Alex how about PvP racing games, which for some are highly competitive? I can't imagine a player joining a race to just play crash up derby with the other cars, drive the wrong way, etc. They would be kicked so fast. No one is going to say, well, they are just here for fun, let's let them play however they want, it is just a game.

The game modes have objectives. You can still play the way you want, but you should be still playing within the scope of the game mode.
  • I absolutely agree with you. Most of the players don't understand that their K/D does not matter in the slightest. Its Battlefield. First of all, you are going to die sometimes, ITS WAR. Second of all, the goal of the game is to WIN, not to get kills. I am sick and tired of dice enabling this behavior with their balancing of maps and guns and vehicles, too. For some reason people think vehicles are supposed to be there just for them to get kills. Nope. Vehicles are supposed to help you push through, to get through the objective. This is especially bad in 2042 because of the terrible map design and the Insta-kill level ttk/ttd which means players are so afraid to take risk they never even touch the objective. Maybe if Dice would bring back having time to *react* to gunfights instead of just dying instantly the problem would be better. Doesn't help that on some of the objectives a few enemies with gatling gun turrets can lock down the objective unfairly and just ruin the entire sector.
