I think F2P is only option how to make BF great again.

I found some old rumors about EA considering switching BF2042 to free-to-play and I think this could even make them more money because all rock solid fans already bought the game and I personally feel like not buying it untill its like 10Dollars in my country (We have stuff cheaper because we earn 3 times less on average than USA citizens) because I dont even know how good would BF2042 run on my budget PC and I also bought BF5, played like 30 hours and I feel like I never gonna play this game again even graphics and effects are great, its just not what BF4 HC Locker was for me. I really loved that massacre when you could just shoot into smoke and get double pick or spam there grenade and get 2+ kills just with that. That was fun and best Battlefield moments Ive ever had, just dumb massacre with ultra-low time to kill which I never found in BF5 anymore, not even BF5 HC.

I like the most Battlefield 4 Locker map HC mode, but its just too old now and it just doesnt feel good anymore.

I think you could make more money from free-to-play if your game is good at this point. People kinda buy skins in Apex Legends or Warzone from what Ive seen.

You could also introduce some kind of Ranking system so players play harder, I think it could work.

Free-to-play would also bring huge ammount of new players and Warzone 2 free-to-play! is like half year from now, I geniunely feel like free-to-play is an only option how to make BF franchise great again, free-to-play is future of gaming anyway, people dont wanna pay 50 Dollars for a video game especially when everything is more and more expensive nowadays and name of Battlefield games is already very damaged.

Battlefield just isnt what it was in my days and Id love to watch this game rise again, would also love to play BF2042, but I just dont feel like buying it. I mean it looks good in YouTube videos, but BF5 looked good too and it just wasnt it for some reason... I think most people dont feel about spending 50 Dollars on BF2042 anyway. Its just too much money for a game I dont even know if I will have fun with and if I keep playing it for more than 30 hours.

@Awhoo_Thunderthat is because cheaters are free to reign because Dice are crap at fighting cheaters, and Dice dont even bother with BF1 and V anyway, now add in on top of that all the cheaters from having it free to play, it will be a lot worse.

I said that even people who paid for it dont play it, so F2P will not help. Warzone is for a different fanbase, I hate COD as probably so do a lot of BF players. Ha trust me I am far from rich, but I would rather pay to play Battlefield than play COD for free.

F2P does noes not work well with every game, some games are better paid to play i.e. Battlefield, where the likes of Warzone and Fortnite do better as a F2P. In general BR games do well with F2P model, where team based shooters like Battlefield do not.

Also bear in mind that ONLY Warzone is F2P, everything else COD, like teambased pvp/singleplayer is all pay to play.

Battlefield will not do well as a F2P game. Especially 2042 just because it is the worst BF game to have been released. Doesnt matter if its F2P or P2P, if a game is bad its bad, either way it will still have hardly anyone playing

Battlefield needs to go back to Premium, live service is horrid and has obviously not worked well for Battlefield

  • How can you say something about BF2042 without even played it LMAO ?

Basically you are just asking for a free game because you don't want to spend money on it ? Pro tips, if you don't like the game, dont buy it and dont play it 😉

That's a very strange request to be honest.

If you want to test it, buy it on steam, dont play more than 2hours, if its ok for you, just keep playing but asking for free because bla bla bla LMAO ??

  • No, F2P would be horrible for any Battlefield. The monetization would be excessive since there's no money made up front, cheat makers would have unlimited free cheat testing accounts so the servers would be perpetually infested with players and their gaming chairs, and the progression and rewards systems would be gutted because the emphasis would be on how to sell more items in the cash shop. What you've outlined OP is the worst form of Battlefield dystopia imaginable for someone who remembers when Battlefield was a complete fully paid game that was also fun.

Nope, trying to make Battlefield appeal to the player-base of every other F2P FPS/Arena-style shooter out there is how we got into this mess in the first place.

The next Battlefield needs to get back to what made the series great to begin with, no silly-* skins, higher skill ceiling on all vehicles, realistic looking soldiers/vehicles/weapons, grittier, dirtier, meaner while balancing it all out with a fun factor a few clicks above a mil-sim.

Go back to the Class System (with regular nameless, faceless soldiers, no goofy outfits and or colors, personally I could care less if they even stopped selling skins altogether)

Clan/Platoon Support (and for crying out loud don't make it so hard to just play with your friends in the same squad/server)

Server browsers, persistent servers (preferably with an option to have community-run servers) minimum 60Hz

Proper Squad Management, with the ability to lock squads, kick players, leave a squad, start your own etc. etc.

WAY more maps, modes, vehicles, weapons just a helluva lot MORE.

And I'm sure a LOT more than I can think of right now, but free-to-play and selling whacky skins sure as hell isn't the answer.

@Ironhead841 this is exactly what we need, not more trend chasing that mired us in this maddening situation in the first place.
