Forum Discussion
@Brav🤭ne-PCI will go ahead and lay out the follow-on replies:
1. It was made clear upfront that the technical playtest, and any playtest for that matter, is not the finished product and has known bugs. Others will remind you of this as well.
2. The true cause for the delay is not known, however it can be inferred from the official message that some elements of the game are not where the team wants them to be.
3. Other players, forum moderators, and CMs will likely follow and reinforce the above as well as the fact that the playtest was not the latest build of the game.
Everyone is a bit disappointed in the delay, but adding more speculation is not helpful.

Agree with #2 but thankfully the op didn't use the term 'we, the community"......

Lets hope the beta comes in the first of October
- BravoOne-PC4 years agoSeasoned Rookie@carsono311 Point 3, of couse they will. Point 2, im telling you the reason. You literally are confirming the message im sending, point 1, the playtest of course wasnt done, duh. but the state of it was bad which is all im saying.
Lastly idk why people still have so much faith in EA or DICE for that matter time and time again posts like mine tried to warn the community and time and time again the community doesnt listen and we get games like BFV- lzilchetl4 years agoSeasoned Ace@Brav🤭ne-PC What do you want the community to do after listening to you? Its like buying a house, you have no control, you either relax and go with the flow or walk away... either way it's not worth fretting over.

- carsono3114 years agoSeasoned Ace@Brav🤭ne-PC Firstly, you have still not offered a valid reason / cause for the delay and you will not be able to, which is fine because only EA DICE know what the true holdup is.
Everyone knew the game was not finished as of the Technical Playtest... and that was the entire point.
As @lzilchetl mentioned, what would you have us do then? Just cancel all pre-orders? Consult you first for anything we do related to Battlefield 2042? This entire thread is ultimately pointless, because there is nothing new or insightful here. So let me know if that changes. - 4 years ago
They also have to deal with the frostbite source code being leaked dealing with cheaters (like we see in BFV and other titles) it is nice to see them working on issues and promoting a better game at launch. Sure it may be a couple more weeks but do we really want another battlefield 4 issue? also unsure if you noticed. BF2042 is now listed on epic game store (pc) which utilizes unreal engine games

Everyone is a bit disappointed in the delay, but adding more speculation is not helpful.Even on the very day of first technical playtest activity, it was noted by the community that the compile/built had been conducted just 3 days before the actual playtest started. (on old source code then or not, we don't know...)
Likewise, the actual content of the playtest was not the isolated 'grey box scenario' which EA had touted it earlier to be. Instead, it appeared to be the all-in BF2042 experience, on a chosen full BF2042 map.
As we know by now, the technical playtest turned out not to go per plan/expectations.
And the deafening silence from EA since then, is the very reason why now the streets are rife with speculations and rumors in all directions on BF2042.
Just any kind of decent communication from EA would have put an end to this, but they have chosen instead to remain silent.
Honestly, its way past due time for EA to come out of the bush. Don't blame the customers on this one please, EA started the hype train themselves many moons ago.

this part is factually wrong, since it was reinstated again that it was a grey box test (map was not final, either), and no full-experience (weapons, gadgets, etc, had been removed or not present, and it didn't had all the features), heck, not even the UI was final
if I remember correctly, I think it was mentioned that the test was a stress test for servers and connections (including crossplay), and other internal stuff, and the beta would be the one with the full features
it's funny you state it as fact, when the Beta could easily throw that to a side when it arrives, and everyone knows that the beta is usually the defining factor for people to either get into the game or not- 4 years ago

No sorry @m1k3ol ,That is absolutely not wrong!
If you have previously participated in grey box tech tests, then you know what I refer to.
And the technical playtest environment was anything but that!
Which is one of the main reasons for the loud outcry of (wrongly) disappointed/confused/compaining players that joined that playtest, as they (again wrongly) assumed this seemed more to be the full all-in game environment and then started posting their judgement of that. While of course, as you so say, it was a limited setup and scenario, despite it at first sight appeared as being the full deal.
Maybe you didnt get my reasoning, in my post that you replied to?
I am fully aware that it was not the full all-in.
But I insist on that the technical playtest put most players into a setting giving them wrong expectations, as it was not a grey box limited environment we entered, as EA had touted and warned it to be!
And no, I never posted a single negative thing about the graphics, hitmarkers, vehicle animations, TTK, etc etc, as I was conscious about all those things were not to be tested nor ready. And was still to be worked on/fine tuned later by the tech team etc as they normally do in final updates before release.
Anyway, this discussion is now borderline NDA material, but hope you understand now my original point.
- 4 years ago@carsono311 The cause for the delay is simple...It's not ready...*shrugs*
- carsono3114 years agoSeasoned Ace@Threedog1421 Indeed. I am perfectly happy to accept that answer for now, however some are clearly not as willing...
- BravoOne-PC4 years agoSeasoned Rookie@Threedog1421 Late reply but more than 5 studios working on this and its “not ready”
- carsono3114 years agoSeasoned Ace@Brav🤭ne-PC Are you looking forward to the game at all? What is the point of this topic? Did you just want to voice your displeasure?
