@KREASE_1976 PS5 requires minimum read/write speeds for live storage, which are PCIe Gen4
The PS4 had no such requirements, hence a £/$150 500mb read/write, 2tb SATA SSD was more than sufficient.
Simple answer would be to not buy a 4tb and optimise your live storage.
AFAIK you can use a USB storage device with the PS5, you just can't run games from it, but it's typically faster than redownloading.
1tb M.2s can be purchased for under 150 with 2tb coming in at just over the 300 mark.
PCIe Gen4 is still in its infancy compared to SATA and Gen3 parts, it wasn't so long that a 1tb SATA SSD was a hefty price, unfortunately that's the price to pay with newer technology, literally.
Also, bagged myself a PS5 for RRP on Tuesday just gone, took me a less than 3hrs over 2 days of actually trying (including gathering the information required).
There are Twitter accounts and Discord groups dedicated to nabbing one, if you really want one you'll get one.
My mate wanted one after seeing mine, an hour after we knew a drop was coming he bagged one Sunday, it'll be delivered this week.
