.....a lot more than I know they are willing to do. Personally, I could care less about the scoreboard and quite frankly, VOIP (while important) isn't an issue either since I always play with my own group of friends using the PS party chat. ....but none of that changes the new, more wild nature of the game, the cartoony hero characters, sci-fi gadgetry, missing modes, lack BF levels of destruction (which by the way they had initially said would be improved), etc., etc.
The thing is, the franchise had been moving away from what I wanted for some time now. BF1 was the last game in the series I purchased and even then I waited for a steep discount. I passed on BFV and was expecting to do the same with BF2042 after I saw the rumors weren't true about drawing heavily from past BF titles like BF3. ....but then Portal was announced and that was the only reason my friends and I even considered it.
Portal is all we play and I don't see that changing (for us at least) just because they add in a few "legacy" features. ..but I hope they do and that helps others find enjoyment in the game as that could ultimately help Portal in the long run.
To be blunt, the only way I'll be interested in another BF game will likely come with the introduction of a new one. ....and that's only if they abandon this new direction they are taking the franchise.
VOIP is also supposedly somewhere deep in there as well. I see info on it in the options screen. May be as simple as flipping a value to enable it
Even the specialists I can't see being too big a change, depending on how you lock it off to certain functions and just treat them as skins rather than skills.
The rest would be an issue because it's simply just empty air.
