@Trokey66 Honestly, its just me venting a bit after I keep seeing more info come out about the development cycle. It's nothing super deep everyone needs to pick apart. Can agree or not, doesn't matter, I'd encourage people to share what they think and like though because I really want to like this game. Been waiting for something to give me the same joy of as when I played 3. Maybe I'll pick it up after a few updates but whenever I read more, what pops into my head is like a parent saying "I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed" lol
@AntEater1997Fair enough but I do think people are letting things like that video get under their skin and cause unnecessary and unwarranted anger.
Let us discount bugs for a minute and that rediculous list of 'missing features' that is floating around.
When you are in game with your mates, shooting and blowing stuff up, hoonong around in a wide variety of vehicles and having a blast, what is fundamentaly missing and be honest?
Whilst my mates and I accept that there are issues, we are warming to the game that more often than not feels like playing Battlefield.

@Trokey66What I'm finding is that outside of times I have played with friends, there is literally no cohesion going on. Even though anyone can revive, it's rare for me to ever get revived by a random. Squads have been more or less an afterthought for a long time (since BF2142), but it's worse in this game than I've seen it before.
I could fire up a game like BF4 on my own and still feel a sense of teamwork. I can try to take a flag on my own with squad mates maybe spawning in on me, and the hunt is on!
I get none of that with this game. No cohesion. No teamwork. Every time I roll into a flag, defenders immediately run EXACTLY to my position. It doesn't matter what small corner I've tried to creep into. I've never been lasered like this immediately before in really any shooter, much less Battlefield.
Last night I'm on Breakaway taking B2 flag on the rig. I was in a corner under one of the stairs, when a proxy nade bounces 10 ft in front of me. Right on cue, I get lit up by someone running right to my position!
I feel like I'm just basically logging in to mindlessly play a shooter and rank up...you know...like with COD lol!!- 4 years ago
@ArchAngeL-PCXIn terms of teamwork very seldom do I see any teamwork in any BF games. I see the same amount of teamwork in 2042 as I have seen in BF2, 3 & 4, none. Every now and then someone will revive me or hand out ammo or actually help me take a flag.

@CantGetRightYou and I have had very different experiences then. Like i said, squad play began to erode starting with Bad Company. BF2142 is the last game that had a legit command structure, working in game mics, etc and everyone playing within that structure. BF2 for sure had that, so I don't know what you're talking about there. BF3 and BF4? Not so much but still more than in BF2042.
And speaking of mics...we HAVE NO IN GAME MICS!! LOL!! How are we going to have any measure of squad cohesion with randoms without mics?

@ArchAngeL-PCXI have the same experience with the lack of teamplay in pretty much every BF before so in that sense, thos one is no exception.
And there are without doubt, balance issues that need ironing out especially around the amount of spotting devices and hopefully they will be addressed. Let's not forget though, in BF4 even a light fart put you on the mini map at least so again, this game is not much different on that sense.Part of the problem is 128 players on large maps but you've been around here awhile and will know that this is what the 'community' wanted, especially the large maps.
A way round that that we have found is to not try to fight the whole map, just a sector or 2.

EA scewed up big time with this psuedo war shooter, they need to react fast or else franshise is dead as a fossil in a couple of months.

@Trokey66 Its hard to not mentioned something on that list because I do think things on there makes the experience better. But if I had to say something, then it would be that it doesn't feel "organic" to me. instead of 64 vs 64 it feels like 4 vs 64. You can make great gameplay moments with your friends out of any game, but I loved playing bf because that stuff will happen organically with a bunch of random players when I would play by myself.
In previous games, I find myself and few random squads end up just linking up and moving from obj to obj together. It sounds trivial just saying that but a bunch of components and features are working hand and hand to give us that organic feel. Like map flow, in game communication, classes etc. 2042 feels like I go somewhere by myself, shoot a few guys and go somewhere else and sometimes when I get somewhere there are some teammates around but they're all doing their own thing. It feels very surface level.
When playing with my friends during the beta and trial (didn't purchase the full game after trying it) It was constant asking who has what or where are you/going etc. Information that the past titles provided you with organically. "this guy is vehicle support, this guy has ammo for us, the squad lead marked this flag to capture, the flag on the map blinks to indicate which one was marked, extra points was awarded to your squad for following the order" (ik they added things like request ammo now etc but tacking those on when the teams feel like they dont flow together doesn't feel like it makes a difference)

@AntEater1997The social side of the game is my biggest gripe about it, 'There can be only 4' is rediculous. Coupled with disbanding the server after every round means that meeting new friends through the game is nigh on impossible.

The thing with that list of 'core mechanics' missing was.....
Many were only in 1 or 2 games.
Many were despised by the 'community'.
Many were just repeats of others presented in a different way.
That list could be made about any BF, particularly just after launch.
Once you discount the chaff, it is not impossible that many that are left will be added over time.- lookcr4 years agoSeasoned Ace@Trokey66 I made i huge post about this in other perspective today

For me the social is a huge fault too, and is not attached with "class" It's a problem entirely linked to the Design decision, as the game is played, they were simply guided by just two points Take and Kill If there were mechanics that engaged the player to do things, it would be more interesting, because teamplay is totally linked to the player's mentality and not with what he/she plays.
