If this is all true, then the BF series is dead

When will dice and ea get it through their thick skulls? We don't want to play a hero shooter/special characters fighting against each other. We want to play battlefield. You all had a unique series and you try to make it something that other AAA studios have already locked down the market for. If I want to play a hero shooter, why would I go play yours when apex and cod are both highly polished and successful already?

Do they not understand that if you create a similar game to an already released game, you aren't going to compete? Creating a similar game in an supersaturated market is stupid.

Creating a new game that would take people away and give them something new to enjoy, that's competing. Creating a new game with a solid foundation and clear end goal of what it wants to be will make it good, it will then become popular.

I'm just tired of this.. I'm not even angry, its just sad man.

  •  I'm really confused around the news of devs doubling down on this hearo shooter shtick for the new BF game as well.. There are plenty of hero shooters out there, heck even Apex legends is doing well so why exactly do we need more and a better question is why does it have to have the Battlefield name on it?. The fact that EA/Dice ( i don't know if this is a bottom up decision or vice-versa) are trend chasing rather than setting trends and benchmarks in what large scale , open map shooters should be is beyond me and is frankly sad and shows a lack of creativity.  IF the argument is that us the BF OG's are just old and irrelevant as far as the sales figures go, then my counter argument is that trying to appease a newer demographic knowing that the same demographic of players jump from one game to the other within the span of 30 days ( depending on what their favourite influencer is playing)  is simply NOT the play to your precious games as a service model, because 6 months later when all the zoomers have buggered off to the new trendy game, the only ones left playing are going to be the sad souls that have owned every game since BF2 or earlier that have nothing better to play.

PS: Activision isn't physically capable to publish a game like Battlefield. IT takes too much effort which goes against their yearly 'reskin' releases..

@Thursdayz_Child Exactly, if one of the biggest platforms on pc player count drops, why wouldn't others drop? Because on origin game feels somehow better, or or on console? It's not about accurate count, more about the point. Steam is just an example. Don't think other platforms are somehow "happier".

Agree, it would be strange if the attitude towards BF2042 were to be different on stream than other platforms. It is probably quite representative.
