In Game Party, question

When my friends and I start a party In Game, do we always have to play together on the same team or is there a way to still be in the party and play the other side?

I'm on Xbox but most of my friends are PS players, so making an Xbox party to achieve this isn't an option. I can understand that it's probably been set up that way so that players can't send a MOLE into the other team, but some of us mature players would enjoy playing on opposite teams with comms.

Is this something that maybe a feature in future patches?

@Its_Travis_199 thanks Travis, looks like Discord is the only way. Sadly, I have next gen console but friends don't. I play most of the time on old gen to play with them, also because there's no PC players.
It's a shame, would be good crack.

@turtlebeached if he is on old gen tho, i thing he won't have the Discord support there. I guess.

But the option you have is that he could just use his phone and join a Discord voice chat there with you and basically talk to you with a headset connected to his phone, while playing on the console.

That's how i did it back then while playing with PC friends when i had no Discord support on PS5 yet.

Ingame party or voice chat wise there will be no option at least at this time.

Not sure if anything will ever change on that (probably not).

If you join a Ingame party (main menu squad) together, you as the squad leader always take the other guy with you whatever mode you choose.

If you join and there is no more place in your team he usually stays in the Q of the game till a spot is free.

If he then joins, he might be in a different in-match squad than you if your's is full, but still in same team.

If you don't join a party (main menu squad) together, he could join you/your server via the ingame EA friends list, and it maybe puts him in the enemy team by luck (not sure if it even does that)

And if it would, as soon as a new round starts and he joined on you, it'll switch him to your team next match because players leave and matchmaking starts new ect.

But if he joins you without a party you can't talk with each other in the first place, and that's not what you want anyway.

Even if you would say he joins your server randomly and maybe ends up in the other team by luck, as soon as you start a party/squad it kicks im out right away because if you're the squad leader the game wants him to follow you, so he will be back out and waiting in Q (if full) to join on you into your server (team) even if he was in that server already.

So either way you can't talk and play in opposite teams in any way the game itself offers. Sorry.

The only other idea i would have is Discord!

If you both are on next gen consoles you could use Discord voice chat if you add each other there, cause as i know Xbox already had it for a while and since some time also PS5 has Discord available as voice chat.
