@X-Sunslayer-X When I hear automatic turret I immediately envision the auto turrets in Aliens.
But at launch priority for targeting was aircraft - ground vehicle - drones - ranger - infantry.
There were several fixes to the turret to get near the intended behavior, and when it did what it should do it was nerfed into oblivion.
T1 requirements were never touched.
I wonder how many people have the "B gun's dry" achievement.
"Inflict 2500 damage in one round while defending objectives using Broris' SG-36 Sentry Gun"

Badges/achievements should not be a consideration when it comes to balancing.
Adjust the T1 requirements instead.
Turret works fine as a distraction/decoy,.
