Topic: First-Person Animations
To bring back that "immersive" feeling of previous Battlefield titles such as BF1 and BFV, are there any thoughts or efforts to bring in optional First-Person animations for solider actions? Personally, I find that whenever the camera exits my character (Sundance's wingsuit, takedown knife animations, when in downed/revive states, etc), I'm physically being taken out of the experience and my immersion is briefly lost. I don't need this for EVERY instance such as entering/exiting a vehicle, as that does have an affect on gameplay and timing, but for things such as the Wingsuit to be in 3rd person but have entirely first-person Parachute animations is a strange inconsistency to me.
Another aspect of BFV & immersion that I really enjoyed were the optional Rolling action you could perform when falling from a significant height (a feature from old-school DICE artists who worked on Mirror's Edge, I feel). I see in the latest patch notes of 3.2 that something similar was added -
"Added brand new physical landing animations when jumping or falling, different animations should now play when hitting the ground from different fall heights - don’t go too high, you may splat."
I'm excited to see these new animations and am hoping that they enhance the immersion to make it feel like my character has weight & is struggling in a war. It might not be a full "roll" like in BFV, but I love to see the steps taken to add back in immersion & a truer Battlefield experience.
