Teamwork
Interesting topic. each team fully integrated with a command structure and communication.
2042 does remind me a lot of Alterac Valley in WoW back in the day. Those were the days boys. We had to walk to the first aid station/relief hut in the snow, BOTH WAYS!!!!
While the maps are greatly different, the resource timer and objective control are very similar from a strat standpoint.
I played on a team of 40 people. In fact, we had numerous rooms with teams, at times 5 rooms (that is 200 people) in 5 games
The end result was we tunneled pugs in 11 minutes. Blizzard found that unless you have teams on both sides, it destroyed the game for the pugs. I could see that happening here. The worst loss I witnessed in 2042 as 1182 - 0. I was on the winning side and frankly, the game ended so fast, it was like joining a game that was 90% over.
I thoroughly enjoy the full organized team concept. I just hope that caution is applied in its rollout.
That's likely not coming back on a whole-team level as I doubt the game is technically capable of that level of additional complexity. But there are a ton of smaller changes they can make to promote more cooperation/squad/teamplay in general.
Things like the pips on your loadout screen showing you what gear your squad is rolling with is a good example.
Another example would be adding back "legacy spotting" (like how it used to work where your spot tagged the person visually and didn't just tag the location you spotted them) for squad-only (not the whole team).
Additional XP for squad-assists and actual vehicle-assist kills, since even if you did 95% of the damage to a vehicle if someone else destroys it you get nothing other than the part damage XP.
Make more vehicles act as mobile spawn locations so there's more incentive to position them smartly and keep them alive (you could spawn on more vehicles in previous BF games).
Basically, sweeten the pot in terms of rewarding actual teamplay activities to promote and reward this kind of behavior, as was largely done in most previous BF titles.
- 4 years ago@edgecrusherO0 exactly, these are some great ideas you put forward to encourage more cohesion on a team and squad based level.

@Necromantion I'm ruining the franchise by advocating for fun and skill based mechanics?
Thanks for showing me the error of my ways.
Your proposal of throwing points at the problem is probably the right way to go.
