Remember when we used to have squad bonuses for things like spotting for kills, destroying vehicles and the like? Where did that go?
Battlefield prior to the last few games have been heavily incentivized to be squad play oriented and working with your team, this most recent game is the furthest departure from that gameplay and has been even further entrenched into this kind of "lone ranger" mindset that never existed to the extent it did before.
Voip is a step in the right direction but if people saw their points per round reduced by 30% as a result of lack of squad activity then maybe we would see more cohesiveness. * To clarify on this point I feel like squad bonuses should be added to sweeten the pot for those who play as a team. We currently dont get any assists for vehicle kills where we did damage to the vehicle, etc.
@Necromantion yeah I pointed the ribbon and medal disparity out in my pre-launch feedback and it's amazing at how little we can earn for performing individual and squad actions - see screenshot from my feedback below:
- 4 years ago@ragnarok013 Good lord, seeing the comparisons in image form is stark.
Everything about this game feels like they tried to build it in 1/3 the time and consequently only got 1/3 of the way through designing most of the systems from scratch (for some reason).- Anobix4 years agoSeasoned Ace@edgecrusherO0 I mean, I assume there's a good /s there lol with how it is almost obvious that the game was going to be a BR which wouldn't need most of this "legacy Battlefield tech" and then had to add it all in last minute and are now faced with the "brutal expectations" to have features one would expect in a Battlefield game lol
- 4 years ago@Anobix Whatever the case is, whether it was waiting on Frostbite improvements or starting this as a BR title or early concepts in other directions being tossed out late, it feels like 1/3 of the game was completed by launch and DICE is largely spending the time post-launch making up for the lack of time and the fact that - per all reports from folks who were a part of early technical tests - they ignored early feedback that they're still hearing now and are finally having to act on it in the more difficult launch-environment.
- 4 years ago@ragnarok013 Exactly! That was when the game had more nuance, now to add nuance they create a bunch of gimmick specialists to create "unique and individualistic play experiences" incentivizing people to just go off on their own and do their own thing rather than work as a squad or team.
I have played hundreds of hours already and cant tell you how many times a squad is usually in 2-4 different places on a map.- 4 years ago@Necromantion who gets to decide where everyone goes? the squad leader? now my game experience is depending on some random dipstick that will probably go sit on a hill and play "sniper"
