Is control an unpopular game mode?

I like the controls. Control is a contrasting game mode, because you have to be somewhat active with infantry to use vehicles, and it feels less dominated by players who can't use their vehicles effectively. However, this game mode does not seem to have as many players as Conquest, depending on the time of day. There is no free matching. Even if you barely get started, it is mostly AI. There seems to be something wrong with the matching system as well. When I try to play Control, I am usually assigned to a match where there is no other player but me. Why is this only happening in this game mode?

    @Gurz1019_MPThe big two modes - conquest and breakthrough - get most of the players. You have to realize 2042 has a very small population, it always has since they released a truly broken game that only improved slowly over the last 2 years. It was never a big success. With the small population, spreading it out over multiple official game modes leaves very few for new or short term modes. Take advantage of the mode if it populates with bots, to T1 difficult to use weapons or gear 😉 Woo hoo haha

    @Gurz1019_MP basically everything what @ATFGunr said plus Battlefield 2042 is in its dying stage since the last content has dropped, so more and more people leave the game and move on. Right now I can still find games in EU on PS5 with crossplay off if I stick to Conquest 64. Breakthrough probably the same, but all other game modes 0 chance. 

    I liked Control for its mechanic that you have to earn your right to a vehicle by first having to PTFO. But many times it got pretty one-sided because usually one team would get the upper hand after the 1st sector, easily win B and C sectors and then that team would also have the most powerful vehicles to steamroll the final sector.

    A lot of these temporary game modes suffer from imbalance problems.  And while it was nice to see the return of Frontlines, it wasn't done very well.  I loved that mode on BF1, but in 2042 it didn't work as well (for me)

    Defuse was a good little game mode for 8v8, I don't know why they didn't bring that back.

    But it is clear that player numbers are already falling.  I used to be able to get a game pretty much any time of day, but lately during the mornings or midday it's harder and harder to find a populated game.  Evenings seem to be the only time players are joining in great numbers and I imagine those will fall once S7 is finished, in what, a couple of weeks?

    @ABC-Warrior-real As soon as I T1 the S7 badge I’ll be done. Nothing left to achieve. Grind spawn beacon to T1? A lot of the gear just isn’t worth it. It’s the end time.
