Is there any reason to pick Nightbird anymore?

With the mobility of the Nightbird receiving a massive nerf in this most recent patch -- I have to ask:

Is there any reason to pick this vehicle anymore?

Since the Nightbird is now about as slow and maneuverable as the apache/hokum, it's also as easy to hit with Lis TGM. Except the Nightbird gets 1-shotted by a TGM every time. Not the apache/hokum; it will require 2-shots if above ~90hp. Before I could at least attempt to dodge an average player's TGM, but not anymore.

The apache/hokum also carries a hugely more offensive arsenal, especially now that the Nightbird's AGM count has been reduced by half. My apache/hokum gunner and the pilot's hydra rockets can farm infantry with ease, and they can go vehicle hunting too. The Nightbird can no longer really fight ground vehicles. I have to run away after firing a single AGM, which usually gets countered by CM anyways.

The only unique advantage the Nightbird had as a helicopter was its mobility. it was its main defense, as it really has no armor to speak of. Now that DICE has stripped it of any defense whatsoever, it is easily removed from the Battlefield.

So, why not just delete Nightbird from the game? I don't see the point in having it in the menu any longer. I will pick apache/hokum every time over the Nightbird now.

  • @AnarchiesxNbird didn't get nerfed, it just finally got fixed. A fix that should've happened seasons ago but was intentionally favoured for so long in allowing pilots to exploit how broken it was for cOnTeNt.

Bird still has unlimited flares, unlimited self-repair, two vacant spots for teammates to continuously repair the vehicle, OP miniguns - it's not like devs removed these, so no need for excuses. This is just how it works out sometimes.

I love how this fix has put all these eLiTe pilots in their place hahaha. The only way bird mains can fArM now is against absolute clueless peanut teams. A light transport heli shouldn't never have been able to perform as it used to, just glad devs actually sqeezed the fix in before support ends.

  • 👆, this guy just hates pilots, don't take him seriously. Since his pov is only infantry play, not taking in count how many times these things got changed and we need to relearn all over constantly which takes hours and hours.

    To original poster:

It still rocks. I got yesterday 90:0 at best. It takes some time to get used to it.

What i don't like is that they took away fun. I liked doing aerobics which now is meh, you can do flips and rolls but barely in any smaller room (stranded ship, renewal E2, discarded ship, orbital hangar, flashpoint "rabbit hole", exposure full speed flying into charlie and come out back of it, probably roll will not allow it. https://youtube.com/shorts/j0sdNrneRdE?si=4BYLHu8fDGA50BR6 ) Don't get me wrong, i can fly in but not flipping in or going full speed, boring.

Also taking away AGM, what does that mean for me? No more trajectory/routes decisions of engaging armored vehicle. (Only if i play on full squad with mates, then i help). Which means, interest has gone.

Conclusion: I still can farm and farm even more than before. I will try more and new stuff. Also there is that, if nb mains would change minis to 20mm and go with agm, thats a change too. (Means, armor is not gonna be safe) But i guarantee, after 2 months still whine presists of nightbird being op, forgetting that someone has mastered it and has taken shtloads of hours. Thats how we survive. I bet, if you would play GOL sniper for 850 hours, you would be goat, gigachad with it. <-- just an example, can be any other weapon or vehicle.

Mini offtopic, what i would prefer:

Make stealth helo playable, DICE can see statistics of that helos kills vs all air vehicles (even condor does more kills than stealth). This thing still has same model of damage as pondahawk and dodging TGM chances are 50/50. (Helos response is way too slow to start even dodging it, when TGM comes from behind, sideways. Thing is, Hokum and Apaches control response are faster and well, these are way more deadlier vehicles.

But bird still rocks in a farming way. Alil early to say yet what it can do.

    1) Your firepower is concentrated on just you and you do not need a second person as a gunner.

    2) The NB is still the second smallest and second hardest to see and hit aircraft for other aircraft.

    3) It still has the best loadout for targeting infantry out of all the attack helis. (from the pilot PoV)

I do not think it is inferior to the other two options as long as you have decided to hunt infantry

@Man_iLoveFishing , this guy just hates infantry, don't take him seriously. Since his pov is only piloting, not taking in count how many times these things got buffed with infantry needing to deal with constantly which takes out all of the fun of playing.

    lmao

@Fr0stW0lves I don't hate infantry. Thing is, being infantry is like any fps game. You know already how to aim and shoot. I also do play occasionally infantry.

That's why i disrespect players who think pilots are non players, not taking into that flying itself needs a good time and practicing. But again, bird still farms and people cheer over change is cringe. 😅😂
  • @Anarchiesx  It got fixed. As someone else pointed out. That bird was broken and there's no denying it.

*edit* Played 2042 again. The Nightbird is still kinda strong with people going 80 and 0, so I don't know exactly what you meant by "no reason to pick it anymore".
