Probably not. Hasn't been in the past two games. They changed melee to do a flat damage value and if that damage resulted in a kill, it would play the glory kill. I think it's a better system and leads to some frantic knife fights.

@Noodlesocks I really don’t care about counter-knifing either way, but I hope to God they leave the BF1 / BFV melee system in the past where it belongs.

The melee system that's used in pretty much every game or the glory kills? I could do without the glory kills.

With the introduction of the dog tag system in 2142, BFBC2, BF3, and BF4 (coincidently, the generally agreed upon height of popularity of the series) all had some associated animation when a dog tag is taken. While not a perfect system, it was still a more skill-based system, due to the range, size, and orientation of melee hit-box.
It changed again in BF1 to its current state. Which, as I have stated, feels like a simpler, dumbed-down approach for the system than what they had success with previously.
