@Deronatron Battlefield wants to be everything at the same time and at the end of the round becomes nothing.
There was only one simple task... only 8 newly designed maps would be enough and then finally implementing redesigned maps from the previous BF2/3/4. Next iteration of the modern battlefield with classes with elaborate Squad Management, VoIP, Scoreboard, Server Browser with dedicated servers (personalized experience), possibly commander mode in CQ and BT.
But no... we have got Specialists (that mostly irritate and add nothing to squad-based gameplay). Lobby in every mode possible (AI is not a great addition to online experience either). Portal with blocked progression without permanent servers. Maps for 128 players that add nothing to gameplay except for fire attrition, higher latencies, and less detailed environments with fewer maps... Hazard Zone is dead on arrival except for European Region.
I totally understand that someone is new to the franchise, bought the game for 120 bucks, and continues to believe that nothing is wrong with the game. Like there has not been any legacy to build upon.
2042 is a misfire when it comes to gameplay and PR. There is only hubris and the attitude towards its player base might be simply put as the Cold War.
Another year and probably there is going to be another "hero shooter" instead of "Battlefield" experience.
