It doesn't matter anymore
Update the game all you wan't. Add all the features you want it does not matter the game will not be popular as the way it could of been with all the previous features untouched. Specialists are a ma...
Normally I wouldn`t give a fly if the game doesn`t meet expectations and land lower than 3/10 on Metacritic or Steam.
How is this even "a love letter to the fans"... more or like "dear john letter" with a list of alleged "legacy features" so everyone might read what got lost in action (production).
I mean... what`s really "ahead of schedule"? The game probably took a drastic turn in the last 2 years in production. 2042 feels like an overhaul from the previous experimental concepts even in Portal.
The game is probably beyond repair and needs 1-1.5 solid years to be worked on. Bringing back just a scoreboard won`t instantly make some of the players come back or re-purchase the game. I feel like dedicated permanent servers and Communities may save Portal mode. Also, sh*tton of maps and weapons is required to keep people interested with a decent progression system.
I have no idea about "brutal expectations" in a short span of time. Expectations were pretty much the same as with the announcement of any battlefield between the 2005-2016 period as far as I am concerned. Or somehow the expectations are being lowered and slightly negative reviews are not justified even by a bit.

So yeah, it`s better to pretend like everything is fine. No Single Player, no co-op, no additional maps after 1 month since the release date like it used to be and the price tag stays or goes up. So right now Specialists and maps for 128 players are supposed to be the "added value" to the franchise?
Pardon me, but the amount of b****ttery is just astounding. The most astonishing is the fact that some of the guys put up with current practices.
I put up with it because I want to play a new battlefield every 2 years, (these 3 year gaps are too long) and I know they've ALWAYS patched their games post release.
Yes I and the few million who buy every battlefield on release are the problem. Feel free to hate me and the other millions.
