This DICE studio is weirder than a bag of seashells thrown under the train.
Must say, at first i thought it's full farming map. I was in same opinion with OP. BUT again i must say, its actually way more challenging map for nb than actually any other. Sure, dunes. Pointless since you are actually stuck in there, i live but being useless. What i mean, i like the map.
Here are some simplified reasons:
Relies a lot on flying skills for survivability, you simply have no cover, so you need to hide behind buildings in narrow streets. Since now when you touch something, nb goes full Micheal Bay.
Its the only flying thing in map, which means i am target for darn every projectile.
If you can fly like in OPs video was shown, lobby is weak. I get constant lizz and boy o boy, at best i've reached 5 lockons at the same time. Trust me, in this map i sweat asf. I like it.

this is less about the nightbird itself in isolation and more about how there are no LATVs, WildCats or CAVs.
This is like how ecoystems work in the real world. If you remove the species that can keep a predator in check, the predator will ravage the area.The inclusion of LATVs alone with their 20mm Flak would have been really helpful.
I do not understand their thought process with excluding jeeps but providing tanks.
A lot of things about this season are borderline insane decisions

Wait thereโs an AA gun in the base? Iโve never gone back that far, is it functional?
- Hudson15312 years agoSeasoned Ace@ATFGunr Its functional alright if the nightbird gets close it does have a good range BUT the view is terrible because of the crap dice put in front.
If the teams NB is being chased by the enemy NB they will fly towards the AA which gives the AA operator a great chance to taking out the enemy.
Sometimes a smart nightbird will flank you from the side if they fly low and at the map edge if you dont pay attention then take you out. - ATFGunr2 years agoLegend@Hudson1531 Thatโs great to know, Iโve never noticed or looked for that lol, I just run forward like the typical idiot ๐คฃ

I think it activates the same way as in BF4 where the automatic turret will not shoot until someone in your team bothers to 3D spot the nightbird. - ATFGunr2 years agoLegend@UP_HawxxeyeSo itโs automated? Thatโs been needed over bases since the game started. It looked like a manned one as it was destroyed by the helo. Like the CWIS on Renewal. I should have checked it out tonight lol, Iโll do that tomorrow now.
- RanzigeRidder22 years agoLegend@ATFGunr You can man it, but if not it operates automatically. But either way due to it's location and weakness it's completely useless. A good NB pilot will take it out in 1 strafe.

@ATFGunrNot functional at all. The AA turrets in both bases were located by Stevie Wonder, because only someone who couldn't see would have picked such a stupid place for them. Also they can be easily taken out by a NB pilot, as the video shows. The do very little damage and feel far less effective than the turret on Reclaimed for example.
- RanzigeRidder22 years agoLegend@UP_Hawxxeye I can confirm you can enter those! I was confused at first as I thought they were similar to the one on Reclaimed on the roof of C2. But the ones on Haven show always your team color as if they are occupied, rather than the white status of the one on Reclaimed.
However if you walk up to it you can enter it.
Regardless of this, it is still not worth it. - MADMAC50K2 years agoSeasoned Ace@UP_Hawxxeye Yeah - you can definitely use the turrets in Haven - but no one bothers as they are 100% useless.

Besides, the NB can easily dodge TGMS, or duck behind the dunes on the left or one of the buildings at the back to replenish flares, then rinse and repeat farming....I've hardly ever seen Lis or anyone firing rockets on that map, because everyone knows it's pointless. And the new SRAW (the one that takes out the NB in the fake trailer?) is even more pointless!
- Man_iLoveFishing2 years agoSeasoned Ace@MADMAC50K Yeah, it can dodge, it can hide but it cant farm same time by doing all these. Might live, but being useless. In the beginning of round only flying thing coming front of infantry, oh look free kills cause players watch their feet when they run.

I agree that it is pointless to run AA loadout on this map just for 1 NB. I would only do this when playing with my friends so we can coordinated address the threat. But playing with randoms you put yourself at a disadvantage by focussing on the NB.
I've ran Lis on this map but mainly to use her TGM against rooftop campers. I managed to down a NB with it once on this map, but this was mainly because I caught it off guard fighting with our own NB. - Man_iLoveFishing2 years agoSeasoned Ace@RanzigeRidder2 1 soflam is enough.

By just getting locked, i forget how quickly recoilless goes, especially when launched close. So, by farming, i really do need to keep eye on lockon icons, which distracts asf. Once i get locked while killing and hear first beeps of rocked launched, too late for me. Again depends of distance.

@Man_iLoveFishing Lock-ons seem to have no affect on pro pilots - they just wait for the "missile incoming" warning before popping flares. Then they know they have 12 seconds to get away and replenish before continuing the farm. Good engineers don't bother wasting their very limited ammo on pilots that haven't already popped flares, as they know it's just wasting ammo. So pilots have a win win situation....

@MADMAC50Kpilots have win win situation as much infantry has. You die as infantry, you get back up after 7 seconds or you get revived. In other hand pilot survives stinger, yes. But it at least stops farming cause after flares needs to get away. I played haven for 2 weeks only with bird and many games were when i cant get out of base/dunes cause of constant locks/hacks and tgms. I consider myself one of the best pilots flying that thing (not in aiming wise, but actually handling vehicle in narrow places "aerobics" or the fastest getaway cover which might be a tree). And ram is hella toxic for bitd btw, ofc depends of team and situations.

It definitely depends on the team. Sometimes your own team works against you by wasting your own teams bird or vehicles.
But I have had some really toxic rounds vs some T1 Nightbirds.
On one of them I was even having 2 of my platoon working with me to try to nail the pilot the entire round with all we had, it did not helped that for a while some absolute genius in our team managed to lose our own Nightbird to enemy hands.
It took many TGMs to finally nail that bird. I know that the stingers can deter for a while but unless many people do it, the good pilots will just fire back at the engineers as often as the immunity window allows them.

You need Rao on the team. Perhaps you dont kill the bird but you stop him and make him run for cover. Rao hack makes him launch flares. Stingers are useless in this game unless you are waiting at the spot where bird recharges the flares. Kill little bird is Lis missiles or direct shots from tanks, tpgโs, recoils etc.
Little bird is overpowered as hell in this game once you master it.

The issue is that the spot where the NB recharges its flares is out of bounds behind the sand dunes where infantry canโt come and wait.
And this is not only on Haven the issue.

Flying away to replenish flares only needs to last for 12 seconds. And there is usually plenty of cover to do so. The whole issue is that the balance is all wrong. It is too hard to take out the NB when getting farmed. If all we can do is scare it away for 12 seconds at a time, then the game is broken....
