It's a wrap.

As a long time fan of Battlefield I've tried to stay optimistic, but I think 2042 has put the nail in the coffin in it for me. I love what you've done with Portal, getting to play the older maps again, I like many aspects of the main game.. but my main gripe is why this game feels basically like I'm playing BFV with Helis & Jets. You've tried to cross BF4 with BFV mechanics/movement.. the problem with BFV from my point of view WAS the mechanics, it's personally why I dropped out. There won't be any fixing of this aspect of the game, it's the core of 2042 so I guess that'll be me out.

  • @Jed-Shot-First What on earth are you talking about... the movement mechanics are 5 steps backwards from BF5.

You want an example go prone in BF2042 try to move vs BF5. BF5 movement was was the glowing achievement of that game minus the slide. All they had to do was add BF5 movement mechanics and nerf the slide.

Now we have less movement options, no lean, with super sprinting... and the already exploitable slide. They kept the worse thing in BF5 and removed the best parts.

The slide in 2042 is nothing like BFV which is why I hardly see anyone using it now like nearly every player totally exploited the gimmick in BFV.

2042 movement is fine, and it's faster than V when climbing or vaulting by removing the animations.

But the core movement system in place here is that of BFV, regardless of taking a few things out. If you enjoyed the BFV system then we are at very different ends of the spectrum, there's no real point in arguing the toss, it is what it is.

@Jed-Shot-First So what you rather have bunny hopping and dolphin diving from the older games? Think you looking at past games with rosed colored glasses. See I remember in BF2/3/4 where private servers would ban you for bunny hopping and dolphin diving on their servers.

Personally I'd say whatever BF1 did regarding it's movement mechanics system, is what this needs. By the end of it's life cycle it was well refined, and a much smoother experience. Play BF1 & 2042 back to back and tell me which game feels better in terms of character control & functionality. But as I said in my OP, it's too late for that, this is here to stay.

  • You seem to dislike bfV. And that's fine. But in my opinion, BFV was hugely innovative. It greatly improved movement, gunplay, revive system, scoreboard. I, in particular, love BFV's movement. 2042 feels NOTHING like BFV and this is coming from someone who plays way more BF1 than BFV
