It's the Maps, not Specialists, not anything else, Its the Maps!
The maps are primarily just open areas with no cover or real points of interest, comparing them to previous games with things to look at, cover, or even just detail instead of the clean grey concrete on most maps in this game. Your either farming infantry in a vehicle on these maps or your being farmed.
No diversity in the maps for different combat, maps from the previous games had wide open combat areas combined with intense CQB areas which made it epic.
Destruction? well its so much less its basically non existent ( I did laugh when I seen a tank get stuck on a tiny concrete post haha) I suppose you would need things to destroy but the maps are so bare compared to maps previous, maybe thats why there is less.
Compare it to even BFV where you would be in a building fighting CQB then a tank would start shelling the building, the glass shattering and the building collapsing round you as you fight, that was epic. Worried about lack of cover, then in BFV you could BUILD cover. Nothing like that compares with this weird Apex/Cod empty running simulator
Interestingly the world is set in a future with limited resources etc, but hey we have a shipping container for every person on earth, its our main map asset. The map Kalediscope is an abandoned city in Korea, well its really nice and tidy the lack of resources and war etc left it spotless no abandoned cars, debris, looks like a lovely utopia wtf? This is meant to be the apocalypse but its sure is nice and clean in this game.
Was it the silly idea of going to 128 players that caused this?
So I debate thats its not covid (these design choices would have been made 3 years ago when they said they went into development) its not the much talked about other changes, all that could be fixed theoretically, but you will still be left with these 8 maps for the lifetime of the game in rotation and they destroy the whole experience. Whats more the maps in future will no doubt be mostly or part designed already so will most likely be more of the same.
Cant believe it took more than 3 years and 4 different teams to come up with whatever this is
