I have tried my Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 joystick which has worked in all previous Battlefield games. It does not get recognized. Neither does my PS4 controller! It's driving me nuts. I tried emulating Xbox 360 controller with X360 and then with Xoutput which both work in various tests elsewhere but NOTHING is being registered within BF2042 via Origin.
I have to launch the game via STEAM of all things, where it properly emulates the controller for it to work. Like... why? I literally chose to buy the game VIA ORIGIN which gets you guys MORE MONEY lol
Because I didn't want to launch Steam to launch Origin to launch the game.
But now to get my joystick working I have to still launch Steam first. Which is craaaazy.
And I have less than 24 hours to refund the game and buy it on Steam if this is really how it's going to be. PLEASE tell me this is going to be fixed ☹️
How are you getting your joystick to work? I could care less if i have to use steam or not so long as the game works with a joystick. I have a Thrustmaster T16000 and i want it to work just like it does in BFV
Joysticks do not work via Origin at least, Shankerz. Neither does the PS4 controller. I tried Big Picture mode, Xoutput, x360, etc. No luck.
If you launch it via Steam however the PS4 controller seems to be correctly recognized.
This makes me think that the game might actually work with the joystick if bought and launched on Steam - maybe.
Has anyone launched the game native to Steam and had any success or issues with their joystick there?
- Quick note: Unplugging my joystick allows the controller to be recognized in Origin without requiring Steam as well. However unplugging the controller does not allow the joystick to be recognized.
you can set up a joystick in portal mode with x360ce, but still wont work in 2042, looks to be intentional, should get a full refund for poorly put together console port.
- @Kuiriel I wonder if it works via EA Play?
saw something on yt, seems you need to use HidHide to enable x360ce to work
