You M&K guys on console fail to realize you're such a miniscule minority that wants to use M&K on console.
I'm sure they've already put thought into input based lobbies allowing M&K with crossplay turned on and not allowing it with it off, and if crossplay with PC ends up being an absolute nightmare I'm sure they'll possibly flip the switch on that as well I wouldn't doubt it.
DICE have already said they'll be looking into possibly implementing it somehow so what more do you want?
It's too bad ya'll aren't as vocal with having a console to console crossplay option only excluding PC from it.
Why don't Console players just stay Console players (with a controller) and PC players stay PC players (with M&K) 😉
Both things are awesome. 🙌
If someone is already thinking of playing with M&K, why not just play on PC directly and buy the game for this platform if it feels more right to you. 🙂 (talking only for Battlefield/Shooters)
Anyways, if the Team says it won't be there just yet but they're still looking into this to try making it possible in a proper way. Then we just have to wait and see.

- 4 years ago@Its_Travis_199 because anyone should be able to play the way he or she likes it!
And besides: Not anyone lives with a pot of gold under the bed to "just buy a PC" capable to run BF2042. Not to mention that some users have a huge library on their console as well. - TankerFlanker4 years agoSeasoned Ace
@Normandy-HitchieI have a question for you, what did you do exactly when there wasn't M&K support on consoles? did you just not play it? Consoles have been primarily used with a controller every gen, and last time I checked they don't come with a M&K out of the box.
I'm personally not a fan of PC players wanting to change the console platform to fit their specific wants, if someone has a disability though that's a different story. - 4 years ago
@TankerFlankerdisability or not, it doesn't matter. Accessibilty may be also important to me, but in the end any game is a piece of software and the more input devices are supported the better for all players! The platform doesn't matter, except it doesn't support USB and the drivers - which consoles do since PS4/XB1 or even before that.
And those "specific needs", like you called them, well, without them we will still see specific game genres being excluded from consoles or being inefficiently to control. E.g. tell me a single RTS game which has been launched on PlayStation. Hard to remember? Yeah, I understand, because there wasn't any!
Even turn-based strategy is stripped down to gamepad controls like Civilization or Age of Wonders, only because those urban gaming legends of gate-keeping say "MnK aren't welcome on consoles" - I still remember C&C1 on PS1 with a mouse, but yeah... same goes for isometric RPGs like Pathfinder, Diablo or Pillars of Eternity 1+2. I bet Tyranny wasn't launched on consoles because of this issue.
But hey, you have high capable consoles, that could easily run the newest Company of Heroes, even Total War on medium settings, naah, rather buy a +1-1.5k PC to run those games, because consoles aren't shipped with devices worth 20-30 bucks, eeehm, YEAH...
I wonder how VR fits into this narrative. Can't remember finding this gadget in the PlayStation box too, even though the games are out there...And to answer you about my attitude towards missing MnK support on games:
I've been playing on consoles for several years now, also Battlefield! I got used to the gamepad controls after months of tweaking and practice, which works fine except on planes.
But I also play CoD with MnK since Modern Warfare introduced it and mixed lobbies are always balanced to me. More balanced than Battlefield has ever been on consoles since BF1, because of the massive skill gap - which will be increased even more due to Crossplay with PC. So yeah, I wanna enjoy Battlefield the same way I do in CoD. Balanced and efficiently to play as same as anyone on PC. And CoD shows pretty awesome that there is not issue at all when it comes to balance. Battlefield just needs proper balance tools for servers rules, teambalance and matchmaking.

This is old plain nonsense.
We are in 2021, not year 2000 with PC vs Console war mentality.
My favorite platform is a 400€ PS5 and my favorite input is M&K. Period.
Also, why enabling cross-play if one platform can use only one input method and the other two?
I understand the whole concept of reunite the player-base, but you have to put effort in the unifying process or some will be favorite and some demotivated.
Just slap a ’cross-play enabler option’ on the game is not enough at all.
- 4 years ago@Trokey66 I mean if you want to play with a controller on a PC or a console you can and no one is stopping you.

wow, I was playing on my ps5 now and you know what most of my deaths were when they were gamers with a mouse and keyboard on pc 🙂)) where they got faster aiming and more accurately, it's a pity that I couldn't connect the mouse and keyboard on the ps5 console, it would make this game easier for me 🙂
- 4 years ago@ZjemCiKolege Keyboard works. It's just the mouse. Really frustrating when you know what's happening but your input doesn't let you react as quickly. Makes you feel sluggish and old. Lost interest in the game completely. Game looks solid and mechanics are good too. It's just a bad experience when I play with a controller.
Forcing crossplay on if a console user uses a M&K. That'll solve every balance issue that arises from this and that's all they had to do. Idk what more 'investigation' they need to do to see how it affects crossplay. Controller users are already playing vs M&K if they turn on crossplay so I really don't get what they are trying to do here. - 4 years ago
Why the devs dont add this support? We only go against other m&k users so what is the problem? We need more information about this.
@Trokey66 And everyone else is free to use what they want to use.
But I want to be free, too, to use what I want. And in a FPS game is obviously M&K.
By-the-way, the beta feels really good apart from some graphic glitches on vehicles and stutter visuals.
Aiming with a controller and get rekted by someone that can use M&K feels not good at all.
I totally agree that it makes no sense at all to not allow M&K support on next gen consoles.
If you have cross play enabled you'll play against M&K users anyway. It doesn't matter if the player killing you is using his M&K on a PC or on a PS5 / XBOX. So I don't understand the hate / doubts against M&K users on consoles.
As already suggested: Just turn off native M&K support on consoles when cross play is disabled.
In this way everybody get's what they want and everybody can enjoy the game in their own / preffered way.
I have really looked forward to Battlefield 2042 but without the native M&K support on PS5 I just won't buy it.
I have tried the Beta with a controller and it was a very frustrating experience. So paying at least 70,- EUR just to torture myself over weeks / months is not something I'm planning to do.
- 4 years ago@Its_Travis_199 So you mean that all PC users should play Fifa, Rocket League or any racing game with mouse and keyboard? Is this what you're trying to say? Or is this a "totally different matter" because in this case of course PC users should use the best input device for each game? So why should PC users are able / allowed to do that but console users not?
And if you would have observed the hardware prices (especially for graphic cards) in the recent past you would know that your statement "why not just buy a PC" is totally ludicrous. - 4 years ago
Like I said, all the work put on crossplay will go to waste if controller users arent given the option to play with a M&K. No one is going to play with a PC otherwise. I was expecting a decent mix for day 1 but nope, 2 hours in and barely any consoles on crossplay lobby. .
I downloaded the game for the open beta on my PC (GTX 970) and at 1024x768 and all low settings I tried joining a game and surprisingly I was able to run it at around 40 fps (maybe 50 at desolate spots) and it was the most fun I had playing this game and my eyes started tearing up. So much memories of the past BF games and this game is definitely well made and there is an insane amount of potential. So many small changes required but I'm sure DICE will pull it off. Noticed none of this when I played on my controller yesterday. I did worse than I did with a controller but had a LOT of fun. A LOT. Was able to react (FPS was my limiting factor, and my own reaction but still felt good), think on my feet, do some cool tricks and feel like being in a battlefield. I swear I felt none of it the past 2 days with a controller and it's so weird.
Devs please please please consider M&K for PS5. Put us in these crossplay lobbies vs PC. We don't want to ruin any controller user's experience. We'll just go play vs PC players and if controllers desire to play in a crossplay lobby it's their choice. I know you guys said it won't be supported at launch but please give it a chance.

Like somebody said, if you add keyboard and mouse support for console and put them in crossplay lobbies then there should not be a problem for anyone. What more is there to investiagte?

Are you suggesting that low console players in crossplay is solely due to lack of KB&M?
- 4 years ago@Trokey66 No? I said no controller user will turn on crossplay and go against M&K users unless you add M&K support for those consoles to give something to them to level the playing field. Hacking is another issue with these lobbies but if M&K is supported and if a console user wants to use it then he knows what he is getting into and it's something he alone will face and not the rest of controller users. And trust me you will see A LOT of console users in crossplay lobby if M&K is natively supported provided such users are restricted to these lobbies. Going against hackers is nothing new to us. We are all mostly from a PC environment and we know what to expect.
I expected crossplay lobbies to be fully dominated by PC players but never expected that it would happen at day 1. - 4 years ago
Yes. I was from Xbox. Played 2 rounds.
Switched off cross play.
- OskooI_0074 years agoSeasoned Ace
I did see a screenshot of the ps5 scoreboard with crossplay on and it had way more console players in the server compared to PC players.
On PC there were more PC players than console players in the lobby.
This seems to suggest EA/DICE/Respawn are planning on matchmaking console players and PC players into separate lobbies as much as possible.
I think calling DICE, EA/DICE/Respawn is accurate now. DICE sure has lost a lot of their independent decision making power as a studio after BFV.
I suppose rightfully so because DICE was being super arrogant during BFV and refusing to listen to anyone. EA probably had no choice but to come in and start clearing out upper management at DICE and replacing them with Respawn Studio execs.

I assume part of the beta lag was due to crossplay but I has 0 issues playing against PC players. Quite shocked how braindead my teammates were if I'm being honest - I guess that's how all these YouTubers keep getting amazing clips of running into a blind nest and easily picking everyone off...
I encourage everyone to try cross-play at least once but of course, turn that silly stuff off the moment you notice anything suspicious. Depending on how bad it actually is at launch I might need to rely on Portal if I want Jack's tags or to tbag Westie for the lulz - 4 years ago@OskooI_007 Im pretty sure the picture of mine was taken with my ps5. I have another picture as well to go with it. I hope I haven't messed it up and posted the wrong pic because I did play on both my pc and my ps5 and took plenty of screenshots on both. But I'm pretty sure everytime I turned on crossplay with ps5 it was full of PC players and I promptly turned it back off.
What you say could be possible but as time goes on the number of people opting out of crossplay will grow (because of M&K advantage and cheating issues) and eventually we will end up with the same result.
I'm not saying there will never be players who are willing to turn on crossplay and go against M&K players (like @TTZ_Dipsy ) which is all good but what difference does adding a M&K support to consoles do to them? They already play vs mouse and keyboard users anyway and if anything, more console M&K users in their crossplay lobby means less likely that they face a PC hacker. - Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace@FireExhauster So that is actually a 'yes' then.
- 4 years ago@Trokey66 Be straight forward and make your point quickly instead of being vague and unnecessarily extending this please 🙂
- Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace@FireExhauster I've made my point.
@Trokey66Dont see it anywhere. You mind quoting it here please? Like I said, being vague and subliminal messaging is not necessary here and doesn't help anyone. If anything it looks more personal to the others reading it. If you have something to say you need to be straight forward with it. And if I have a counter point I'll get straight to it too 🙂
