Also, the fact that these buildings are 'copy and paste' is irrelevant, they exist.
@Trokey66the fact a sniper can see from one corner of the map to another in any capacity is poor design choice. There can be lanes where that kind of sight line is possible but not a panoramic view of 80% of the map... also.. "the fact that these buildings are 'copy and paste' is irrelevant, they exist." Quality matters. If I make two batches of brownies one is made with intent and attention to detail and the other I just threw the sh*t together with no regard which do you think will be a better experience? "At least they exist at the lowest possible level" is not an argument, its confirmation that the map design rushed and flawed... Tom Henderson has posted statements from devs talking specifically about the maps and how they were made for looks and then handed to level designers to attempt to make playable. Which is why hourglass can be both pretty and then also have blank placeholder destructible buildings thrown on top as an afterthought.
- Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace@WinterbornGuard It sounds like you have never been on the tower on Firestorm or the cliffs on Sinai, there are plenty of examples through BF's history where there are multiple places one could see most of the map. Indeed, it would be almost impossible to create an 'open air' map where this was not possible in some way shape or form.
@TheCompton73 the buildings in the villages still afford some cover when 'destroyed'.
But this is the very problem, how do you balance destruction and cover?
People want more cover, OK let's put a building or 2 in that field.
People want more destruction, OK you can destroy those buildings.
Where's my cover gone!
Kaleidoscope has loads of trees and bushes for cover only problem is, vehicles can destroy them by simply driving through them!
Oh, and getting domed from miles away by a camping sniper has been an ongoing issue in every Battlefield, BF2042 is not unique in this.
I've been round these forums since BF3 and that is long enough to know that the 'community' always contradicts itself on matters such as this.- Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace
Another thought has just stuck me, suppression or lack of!
In BF3/4 and to a much lesser degree BF1, if you were shot at when transiting an open area you could return fire and supress the enemy giving you more of a chance of reaching cover.
Since the complete removal of the mechanic in BFV, this is no longer possible indeed, a sniper or DMR user has ample time to dome you at range even if you are hitting them!
Pebbles on a pond.....

- Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace@TheCompton73 Not really as I pointed out that those village buildings still afford some cover.
But then there are people who want buildings to be completely levelled.
