4 rockets to take out a tank is okay IMO. But helicopters spamming rockets on your tank is just impossible to avoid; I usually just give up since the open maps offer little to no cover from the air, for ground vehicles.
In the last 2-3 days I've really had an issue with homing grenades flying around corners, breaking my repair - then only to be followed up with the recoilless or someone rushed me with C5 as my tracks are damaged and I can't speed up my repairs again. The worst part is the IR smoke doesn't break it properly for some reason.
At this point, I'd rather hang back with the tank and try to snipe other vehicles or use the ridiculously small splash damage to take out infantry.
After unlocking the STAFF shell I thought it would be easier to take out vehicles, but it just doesn't work right. It doesn't lock until the last second, and the round doesn't change direction.
Compared to homing grenades which I noticed take 45-60 degree turns, the STAFF shell is a joke and I'd rather just use the basic shell. HE shells are also useless in my experience.

Perfect write up on the state of play with tanks in 2042.
With how easy they have made it to spam C5, which was bizarrely buffed in one of the patches, even attempting to clear a flag of just one enemy infantry is a major achievement at times.
Instant acceleration would help with C5 because as soon as that C5 infantry is within throwing distance its game over unless they fumble their buttons.
At the moment tank acceleration from a standing start is pretty much the same as a heavy tank in BFV but unlike BFV, infantry couldn't spam explosives as fast.
Pretty sure tank acceleration was instant in BF4.
