In my opinion, with each Battlefield game, the aspect of teamplay is getting less and less and also the fear of encountering an enemy vehicle is getting less, since vehicles are no longer that supiorier to an infantry unit. Battlefield 2042 in particular feels like the game of the competition in the team deathmatch mode on a huge map. They should really have a look back to Battlefield 2 and 3 in regard of teamplay and infantry-vehicle balance. Back to the roots!
Here are my suggestions:
UI:
- Implementation of the scoreboard
- Being able to zoom in and out via the “N” key for the mini map
- Being able to choose which squad you want to join in
- 3rd person camera should be reworked; too glitchy and out of focus atm
- Being able to chat with the opponent team
Gameplay/Vehicles:
Gunplay/Mechanics:
- Reduce blooming (random calculated bullet pattern) while firing with ADS, especially for assault rifles
- Reduce the time to revive by 1 second
- Sundance anti-armor grenade should be replaced with a flashbang grenade
- FXM-33 anti-air launcher should be rebalanced: reduce lock range and increase time to lock
- Vehicle spawn and entering should be reworked from the deploy menu
- Increase squad member count by 2, from 4 to 6
- Rework of ground vehicle physics in terms of traction/gravitation; feels not right atm
- Being able to draw custom map borders in Battlefield Portal (resizing maps / red zones)
- Adding option to Breakthrough mode only with light vehicles or no vehicles
Hovercraft:
- Keep damage output of the minigun
- Reduce armor, so it is damageable by every gun e.g., assault rifles, pistols etc.
- Reduce health pool by approximately 15%
Jets:
- Replace current Star Wars Battlefront 2 flight characteristics with Battlefield 3 flight model
- Replace both machine gun types with the one from Battlefield 3
- Jets should be able to perform strafing runs and kill infantry and be able to damage ground vehicles like tanks
- Add hydra rockets to the loadout
No need of an “attack aircraft”, if points above are implemented …
Tanks:
- Increase main cannon barrel elevation by 10°
- Increase damage output from default main machine gun (secondary weapon of driver)
EBAA Wildcat:
- Increase rounds from the 40mm main cannon by 3, from 12 to 15
- Increase damage and splash radius by a small amount of 2%
Attack helicopter and little bird:
- Increase splash damage radius of rockets by at least 5%
- Anti-air missiles should be evadable without the usage of flares (like in the beta, but I think it was a bug) by dodging
- Adding TV missile to the loadout of the attack helicopter for the gunner
Some bugs which should be addressed:
- Being sometimes after spawning not able to shoot or knife or use ADS, quick-fix: double press the ESC button
- Anti-air missiles are hitting the target if evaded with flares, when the source is still aiming to the air vehicle
- Not able to stand up after being revived. 3rd person camera remains
- The sound system at all..
