Lets have a serious conversation as to why "Global chat" isn't in the game

God, ever since its release, it has been one frustration after another. First the begging of a scoreboard for 5 months. The still ongoing begging of a server browser in AOW. And yet mostly tho, I wonder why they removed Global chat.

Was it removed to "protect" the new baby sensitive generation or does Dice really think its not useful?

Anyone old enough to remember the old Quake days. During clan matches the smack talk was hilarious and had someone suggested to remove the general chat at the time - it would have been unthinkable. Smack talk is what it is. If you get offended maybe you should not be playing games. But do we really live in a world where EVERYTHING is now offensive? Most people playing dont know each other (i mean some do) so they most likely will never meet IRL. Calling out that opponents team sniper is just part of these games. For all i care, blank out offensive words if you must but really - MOST PEOPLE WHO PLAY BF ARE ADULTS. Sorry for the caps but I am so so tired of this developer and what they have done with BF as a whole.

Your thoughts?

@Buzzfunk My idea is, that you don't want and don't need an all chat in a battle royal game. I think we should be lucky they allow team chat, but even there I guess this was added because of issues with squad and party chat, when players from different parties ended up in the same Hazardzone squad/team.

I also believe that the issue isn't that it isn't activated, I guess it isn't even implemented.

  • I mean really? Toxic? Someone says something about your mother on the internet and you get upset by that? Get a grip boys and girls. They are just words and it's a video game. If you're putting that much stock in smack talk on a video game, you should perhaps not play the video game. Just sayin....

@StormtrooperDanlol. Let me guess, you are from what Gen of gamers? Quake was 1997 and it was a bloody good time. The chat was never "95 %" hate. Did you just make that number up? The solution is simple: give us an option for those who want it.

I gave you a legitimate reason why a feature isn't in a game and all you can do is try to belittle me based on my supposed age?

lol, Let me guess, you are one of those toxic players no-all-chat is meant to hinder.

I should have said "majority", would that make a difference? Devs aren't going to include a feature that's misused the majority of the time.

I agreed all chat should be an opt-in feature.

I think profanity filtering in chat is silly.

Players play games to have a good time. All chat is counter productive to that, simple as that. There are the rare cases all chat is useful, but 95% of the time all chat is used for insults and hate speech. Why should a game developer include a feature that's a detriment the vast majority of the time?

I could make an argument that it should at least be an option in user-ran Portal servers. Considering we're never getting a server browser, and thus nothing remotely like what we had in previous BF games, the least that could be done is a checkbox at setup of a Portal server to have All-Chat be on or off. Maybe you're trying to test something out with a person on each side [and not over a voice chat like Discord] you literally have no way to communicate with another person.

Not even an ability to say 'Nice shot' when someone hits you with a recoiless in a chopper from across the map.

Those are valid points you make there.

I also thought it was nice to be able to shout out via global chat if you spotted a friends name in the enemy team.

  • Allchat scapped is because EA/Dice is scared to death  to the possibllities that new wooke kids would leave this game (yup, they are sensitive), now there arent that much ppl

that are playing this brooke game anyway so...what the heck, it wont even matter ?

EA/Dice wont get it back into business because of this fact... its just simple a wooke thing (my opinion)!
