Forum Discussion
This is every platform and in every possible permutation and game mode of 2042.
If you ever visited the old forum you'd see these complaints began in greater number with Battlefield V, way before crossplay. Now it seems the problem has become even more prevelent with 2042.
You're completely spot on with the netcode issues involved in how this game performs.
You're wrong however about the console players having an unfair advantage. Compared to any other AAA shooter out there and including previous Battlefields up to and including V, the AA in 2042 feels awful. Bit like how the mouse input just feels off, the general controller experience is just not quite right.
But instead of putting the blame where it deserves to be on whoever developed this god awful netcode, we have multiple threads of PC players blaming console players and console players blaming PC.
2042 fundementally does not offer a great experience for many and it shows in player numbers.
Playstation, previously the largest playerbase shows only 25% have made it past level 25. Even with all the double XP only a quarter of the playerbase has stuck with the game for even that long.
If console players could happily farm PC players at will this statistic would be massively higher.
Jesus, just noticed the size of this post and I apologise for the essay. But it's time we put the onus for acknowledging and fixing the glaring flaws in 2042 on the developers not blaming each other.

Since day one I’ve been directing my comments at the devs and not at other gamers, as ultimately we are all gamers who want to have fun and maybe a distraction from the day to day BS. Netcode, networks, cheap 45hz servers, aim assist tweaks, mouse input issues, no server browser that might help with some of the issues…. It’s all on Dice and through them, on EA. Nobody should blame another gamer for playing the game the way it’s designed. EA pushed an unfinished game into the market place, and have done nothing to finance the improvements it desperately needs. It’s why I’ll never pre-order anything that has EA attached to it. I may not even buy anything that has EA attached to it. Their PC ports have been consistently garbage and not worth the prices being charged. This is not a gamer problem, this is a game problem.

@RaginSamI've played 2042 on PS5, XBox and PC with crossplay on/off and whatever platform I've played on the game often just feels bad. Super bullets, death behind cover, hit reg. Of particular hilarity was when bullets began flying sideways out of a gun to hit me whilst my opponent was facing the wrong way.

But it's time we put the onus for acknowledging and fixing the glaring flaws in 2042 on the developers not blaming each other.I appreciate the sentiment of your post. It's not like I, or I imagine any PC player, have a problem with console players as people. Everything I have stated is 100% directed towards Dice and not individual players. I won't back down or shy away from facts though either. I'll definitely challenge people in the forums, especially when it's facts versus anecdotal evidence.
The netcode, or whatever you want to call it, is the biggest issue currently, I do agree with that, but everything I've mentioned about the different assist mechanics still need to be further tuned. We can't ignore that snap to target effectively gets you right onto target, then is followed up with having reduced recoil. Those are two huge assist that definitely make a big difference. The reduced recoil effectively reduces the spread of a weapon as well. You can see this in numerous videos when people are using a controller. They're going to land more shots because of that alone. So you're able to get onto target with great accuracy and then your bullets are going to go exactly where your sights are pointed. These different assist, especially when they're all working together, add up to a reliable advantage. We can't just ignore all that and pretend it doesn't do anything.
If both sides are really that miserable with the weird hit registration, then hopefully crossplay will cease to be a thing. I don't think it's necessary for any of the platforms either. The pool of players is just so mixed up since it's on by default. Which that needs to be changed at the very least. Every platform has a healthy enough player population to sustain itself. Unfortunately, that's not where we are currently. So until they ditch crossplay, it is an ongoing issue with how over-tuned all the different assist are. Again, you might not be able to feel how strong it is, but maybe you weren't the type to notice in other games either?

crossplay cannot be balanced (also aim assist on pc cannot be balanced either)
no matter what, i dont see how this is being pushed on every new game, "wow, crossplay, you can play with all your friends"
need to go back to seperating the player bases, every BF title existed pre crossplay, and still has players, what is the point of merging everyone together?
45hz tickrate, shot behind walls all the time, especially from console players
mnk vs controller cannot be balanced, giving someone less recoil, less side to side recoil and snap aim vs raw aim, ridiculous. i would rather die to the worst mnk player than to a top tier controller player
i do agree mnk is stronger than controller, but that isnt the point, the point is dying to the same INPUT (even playing field), on console vs console you all have the same aim assist and all have a controller, so its balanced, yet on PC, you have RAW aim vs controller (aim assist, less recoil) + PC players now using controllers aswell
all it takes is a few updates and you have APEX level of aim assist
its not even FUN, farming controller players, because i can beam them across the map, its boring, and with this game, the entire gunplay is boring (possibly because controller), you just mag dump, practically at any range, i literally die trying to burst, the time taken to burst = more first shot recoil + time wasted + barely any spread just mag dumping
VHX is OP, new DMR g248 whatever its called is OP, PP-29 is OP 65 mag round??????
most of the other weapons just feel weird, visual recoil and how they shoot, its just weird
Ofcourse console/controller players are highly skilled, its just bad merging MNK and CONTROLLER, you either seperate, not allow aim assist on PC, or have input based lobbies, and the controller PC player goes into console/controller lobbies, or you continue having this unbalanced * show, where controller players get mad at mnk players and mnk players get mad at controller players

Meanwhile this was the mouse aim experience on PC a week ago.
