Let's not kid ourselves.. They only added specialists so they can monitise them and get their greedy hands in our pockets even more. Specialists bring NOTHING to Battlefield and they never will.
A Battlefield with specialists IS NOT BATTLEFIELD it is a cringe hero shooter and as much as some people might disagree, well enjoy your dead Battlefield game.
The best part though, the idea of adding specialists to monitise the game ultimately backfired and caused them to make way less money then they would of if they just kept to the Battlefield formula that the majority love and enjoy.

I'm sure someone at EA brain stormed the idea of specialist along the lines of if there's only 4 classes, then there's only 4 dolls which can be dressed up with cosmetic items.
But if there's 10 specialists we've just doubled the number of dolls which can be dressed up which means double the money!
Old dress up system:
Assault
Medic
Support
Recon
New dress up system:
Angel
Dozer
Irish
Falck
Paik
Boris
Rao
Sundance
Mackay
Casper
Plus future specialists added every few months
Each specialist gets their own unique cosmetics. You can't use Sundance cosmetics on Dozer. So if you want a hat for each specialist you need to buy 10 separate hats now.
I'm just trying to think like an EA employee, because money is the primary motivator behind decisions being made at most companies. Everything else comes second. Unfortunately for EA/DICE, live services also need fun gameplay to draw players in to buy cosmetics.
Designing cosmetic monetization is easy. Designing fun gameplay is much more difficult. Fun gameplay requires good map design, weapon and vehicle balancing, plus gameplay testing months in advance of the game's release. DICE always seems to think they can put these 3 things off until the last few weeks before launch and everything will come together and turn out fine.

@OskooI_007First you need a company that create games out of love for theyr passion and then improve on that.
EA and all those other big company had luck to grab theyr greedy hands on some studios and they profited of on that but after years of missmanagement and pure greed decisions you can see games becoming worse and worse with each installment.
2042, the battlefield with probably the tiniest effort into making this game likely killed the franchise.

I don’t get where people are coming up with the “monetize” complaint with regard to specialists, so far I have not seen anything for purchase within the game since I bought it. As far as (hypothetically) paying for skins for specialists, you won’t have to if you don’t want to. Now if we had to purchase better weapons then maybe a little griping would be legitimate - but again one can choose not to pay or to play.

Yes, you don't have to pay and certainly I would not.
The problem is that the specialists are in the game for that reason and that they replace classes. More precisely: the complaint is that the game was made WORSE on purpose with this change and the compaint is NOT that microtransactions exist in the first place. One might like the latter or not, but to make the game a WORSE experience gameplay wise because of sole purpose to be able to sell microtransactions later, that is the complaint here.

My point is that, so far, micro transactions do not exist in the game and therefore using that to complain about specialists is purely speculative. Also, I do not agree that specialists make for a worse gameplay experience, merely different. I personally like to play as Angel and be able to change my kit out for whatever situation arises.
