Following the controller remap a few months ago I reworked my controls on console to resemble the old system as closely as possible. It took a while to re-train my brain to use L1 to change weapon and still allow me to use the old attachment system. But now with the new event everytime I try to deploy the lance it either brings up the comirose or the attachment menu. There is currently no option i can find to remap the deploy buttons for the lance. Major oversight and very annoying. Given I can't plant the lance I don't even pick it up now and feel relegated to a support and defend roll. Not the end of the world I guess but it is pretty annoying.

After some more experimentation I've found a solution/workaround, but it seems the issue we're running into is due to a combination of a few things:In this mode the Call-in Tablet is removed. It makes sense for it to be removed in this mode, but that also is what allows the L1+R1 button mapping to be used for "Plant the Lance".With custom controller mappings, anytime you remap L1 or R1 to something else it deletes the L1+R1 mapping for the Call-in Tablet too. The game doesn't allow us to map our own L1+R1 combination either, so in a way we're losing a button if we remap L1 or R1.For normal gamemodes losing the L1+R1 mapping for the Call-in Tablet isn't really an issue because you can still access it through the Commorose, but in this mode it's not an available option in the Commorose which means we have no way of doing its replacement (planting the lance).The solution/workaround is to map "Call-in Tablet" to a button. For example, on PlayStation I remapped the controller's touchpad to "Call-in Tablet" and now holding that allows me to plant. I also unmapped "Map Zoom and Size" otherwise holding the touchpad opens the full map too. It's not ideal since I'm giving up a feature that I normally use, but this works and lets me keep all my other custom mappings that I've gotten used to.(Note: I've only tried mapping it to the touchpad, so I don't know if there are some buttons or configurations that could cause conflicts and not work)To be fair it is a tougher situation on console because we have a smaller set of buttons to work with compared to PC, but ideally we wouldn't have to give up button combinations or features because we customize our controls.

What should be happening instead? When I reassign the L1 and/or R2 buttons I should still be able to use L1+R1 to plant Lance and/or use the call in tablet without having to remap the call in tablet to a single button and sacrifice an action/ability/feature.

However, I would not expect an immediate change, but hopefully, it is something they can look at for possible future events.

When placing the Lance in Shutdown there is a couple of seconds when you start to place it where it is not clear that you have started to place it, the loading bar for placing it should come up straight away and flash or something to highlight that you have started to place the Lance so you don't let go and start again. Have seen lots of people struggle to place it because it is unclear that the Lance has started to deploy when first starting to hold L1+R1.

Yeah this oversight is quite disappointing. The mode is fun but not being able to plant really messes with your effectiveness as an attacker.
When attacking you're incentivized to pick up a dropped lance because it's on a reset timer, but if you pick it up and can't plant it there's no way to drop it besides getting yourself killed.
Time is a key factor in this mode so you end up wasting time for your team either way — don't pick it up (since you can't plant) and wait for a teammate to hopefully pick up the lance before it resets, or pick it up to avoid a reset and then wait for an enemy or something to kill you while trying to keep it in a good position for your team.
I guess I need to take some explosive with me so I can "drop the lance" for my team if necessary. I prefer to play Falck though so the only option is a grenade, and smokes are pretty useful in this mode so I'd rather not give them up.

The only thing I would suggest is to pick it up anyway and take it to the objective and then "redeploy" to drop it for a teammate who can plant it. At least this helps with getting it to the designated area to plant
