- @GC_xDJ_Cas There's no indication that there is limited ammo and fuel for vehicles yet. Try the Beta before making your decision.
I tried Alpha and I like the ammo limit there. I'm just against limiting fuel or ammo and placing replenishment box as BFV had which is a catastrophe for me
- carsono3114 years agoSeasoned Ace@GC_xDJ_Cas Then use your own experience and reason to conclude that limited ammo and fuel is likely not coming in this game...
- @ragnarok013 In regards to helos/aircraft, couldn't agree more.
high-risk/high-reward mid-map or close support near your own base, not buzzards just picking things off to the point where half the infantry have to equip AA weapons to be able to move from objective to objective.
Not even going to comment past "wasn't it fun to spawn in a fresh round and just get bombed to oblivion within 5 seconds in your own spawn" in BF5. - kregora4 years agoSeasoned Ace
Actually no one knows how game play will work. Currently I expect Beta being very different from technical play test experience.
And if things I didn't like during the technical play test are unchanged in Beta, I start to complain about them then.

@NoodlesocksI absolutely hated the limited ammo system in BFV.
In the end it's one of the main reasons that game was bad compared to the previous games in the series.
For Vehicle Gameplay Battlefield 3 and 4 are what I would consider the best in the series. So I am glad they are going back to what made those games great 🙂Battlefield 5 was a cacophony of contradicting design philosophies that it' would be disingenuous to say one particular feature was the or even a primary cause for it's lackluster gameplay experience. It is easy to look at Battlefield 5 and say "This game was bad so this feature is also bad," when the real problem was the result of a number of compounding mistakes in design.
Before Frosbite, Battlefield games always had limited ammo and it worked perfectly fine because the features surrounding the ammo system was designed from the ground up to support it. Everything was designed to work in conjunction with each other, not in contradiction like a lot of Battlefield 5 was.
I'm not particularly fussed one way or another, it's not a deal breaking/making feature for me but I certainly prefer limited ammo over the 6 pump chump system.

Hopefully we'll have a Portal level adjustment to remove auto replenishing ammo back to vehicles. There's a lot of myths perpetuated about it and almost all of it is from vehicle mains which is exactly what was anticipated and intended (Full disclosure: I am a vehicle main myself). They non replen ammo system itself is solid and proved itself in the original BF's but vehicle players HATE anything that limits their farming ability.
The primary purpose of reintroducing it was to provide ground players a break from vehicles so they wouldn't end up in a perpetual onslaught of heavy fire from multiple angles. The secondary objective was to introduce a strategic element to the game whereby managing your ammo supply became important as well as holding points where depots could be built. Sadly, a few things happened which led to issues with the perception and execution of the system.
- During the first 3 months of the game, due to a bug (since fixed), the non plen ammo system could be totally circumvented as seen here: https://youtu.be/9SUDy4AtuOg - Just load up on as much conventional and special ammo as you want. Due to this, a lot of infantry players probably came to the conclusion that the system not only brought them no relief but actually exacerbated the problems of infantry farming!
- Because the game sold so poorly and suffered from so many issues, developers were quick to kowtow to community demands to appease players and salvage what they could of the playerbase. A great example of this was the initial replenishment of bombs for aircraft which was 60 seconds. Pilots complained and instead of reducing it to a reasonable 45 seconds they cut it in half to 30 thus effectively eliminating the benefits to infantry and subjecting them to the constant bombardment that the non auto replen system was supposed to mollify.
Thankfully, the auto ammo replen system isn't the worst thing in the world if the devs manage the auto replen times well then it should be fair for both vehicles and dismounts. If not then there's always portal.
Limited fuel OTH I'm not really sure there is much room for that save for something like a super callin vehicle or the C-130 Hercules where you want to ensure that it makes an impact without derailing the game.
EDIT:
Just want to add that in my experience vehicles camping the depot was a myth. For one it didn't make much sense to do so since there wasn't much action to be had at an uncontested flag. I think what did happen is people would take a mental snapshot, see a vehicle there and assume they were camping when in fact they were just repairing and resupplying which depending on how much you need to reload/repair could take a little time leaving some to the erroneous impression that they were camping.

However, there were maps where Planes was ok. The same could be said about AA / MAA. Air vs ground was just a disaster in BFV imo, and a constant nerf / buff of everything. It's mostly due to inexperienced infantry not knowing how to combat vehicles.
