I've disliked all the limited time modes, I thought this one would be different. But it's not.
The truth is, these modes just don't work well and inherent all the flaws from how the maps were at launch.
For instance, on Hourglass, one of the objectives is underneath that arch but not in the tunnel and who ever controls the bridge, controls the objective because there's literally no cover to shield the objective from the bridge. It's so incredibly thoughtless.
I feel like the mode was designed exclusively for Redacted, which it probably plays best on. And which makes the most sense for it to be on, why are these synthetic cyborgs appearing on other maps?
I truly believe, limited time modes just don't work for Battlefield. They stray too far from the formula that's fun and engaging, the formula that utilizes the sandbox tools that make Battlefield fun.
Instead of entirely different "game modes", these limited time "modes" should be limited time "events" that take place within the Conquest, Breakthrough and Rush modes, both in AoW and Portal. Such events could be a limited time AC-130 that's from a non-player faction that attacks both teams. Night maps, more disruptive weather events, such as a tornado that actually does something and disables the objective or sector it's affecting. There's so many possibilities and yet the dullest ones are pursued because they sell skins. Skins could also be sold with much better content, like more maps.
