Make it a REAL love letter to fans - offline mode

I think Dice made a lot of players very excited with this Portal mode. It is almost a real love letter to fans. Why I said almost? Because there is not offline mode to ensure legacy of Battlefield series to stay. So when Dice/EA will decide, they will simply turn off servers and we wont be able to play game anymore.

There is opportunity for you to implement a true offline mode with bots (it can even be without progression if that is the problem) like "Instant action" in Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2017) and you will make thousands of players happy. Make it a real love letter to fans, not this "always online" nonsense - don't get me wrong, I know Battlefield is primary multiplayer FPS, but adding an offline mode will make this title probably the best FPS in a decade 🙂

  • @Terofishy Yes, offline mode will give people a stable and hassle-free play experience. Including playing forever and ever.
DICE if you're reading this. Please add offline mode with "Conquest" bots.

EA have not said it direct why online only is the criteria for the BF2042 gaming, including for the AI bots.  But they have explained how the bots are machine learning AI.  So for that to work, they will need to be connected back to EA HQ and 'their brain' so to speak.  Reason why the game can only function when online at all times.  Dont know how much data processing power they take and if a baseline AI bot brain could be established that also could reside at player locations, which then could enable offline gameplay to some degree.  That AI bot brain could then be updated from time to time if/when the player gets online.

Now, this is all speculations as EA have not really shared much details about the AI bot backend, so maybe it is not nearly as sophisticated as we try and make of it.  Another thing is the absolute control that EA yields when all gameplay must be online 24/7.  Incremental updates of the game, maps, soldiers, gadgets, AI etc etc is all so much easier when 'online only' is a hard requirement.  Essentially they only need to update their central instance and immediately all players will get the update by default next they get on to play.

That said, I do understand why some players ask/plead for the offline feature despite vast majority of BF players are here for the MP experience.
