@SpudBugHow so? I mean, how’s he not contributing? Unless they’ve changed something since last weekend, the Heli can still use weapons in stealth right?
- spudbug3 years agoSeasoned Ace@SleepyWeasel68 the pilot can only use bombs which are pretty effective in a small area but have a long reload speed. The gunner can attack with their minigun but it's range is very limited

- ATFGunr3 years agoLegend@SpudBug Since the Soflam manually locks on, you’re physically aiming it after all, it should be able to defeat stealth. MANPADS being defeated by the stealth makes sense, however physically pointing a laser at it and holding it on target should negate the stealth feature.

Stealth doesn’t make the damn thing invisible. The weapon locking on is locking on the the laser.
- spudbug3 years agoSeasoned Ace@SleepyWeasel68 If the soflam worked like bf4 where you had to have line of sight then maybe. But 2042 soflam is dumb and locks onto targets for a while after you look away and allows locking to multiple targets at once

@9mgebypzbiszNo, this invalidates the stealth mode. It's usefulness is severely limited in stealth mode. A pilot flying around only in stealth isn't doing much to change the match.
Yes. It becomes less effective while in stealth. But it's not completely ineffective and the bombs can still do massive damage to ground. However it becomes basically impossible for ground to counter it, while it's stealth. That is the definition of imbalanced. It's simply too strong. Stealth, insane speed, flares to avoid damage. All while still being able to dish out damage to ground forces while they can only watch and hope air can catch it.- 3 years ago

One M5 takes the stealth chopper out.

Stealth choppers have enough time to pop flares before Rao's hack goes off, giving the stealth chopper enough time to fly away to cover/out of range while they're hacked. I was just playing with an annoying pilot who would decimate all our air and armor and even with a squad of three of us going after them with Rao and AA, we couldnt manage to kill him. Honestly I think the chopper would be better if the bombs were on the gunner seat instead of the EMP bomb (because why does it need that too on top of everything else) and if it was more sluggish to control in attack mode. its a straight upgrade to the attack chopper and scout choppers both right now.
- spudbug3 years agoSeasoned Ace@DigitalHype In stealth mode the heli is completely defensess against other air vehicles without a gunner and at a huge disadvantage even with one.
You can't just stay in stealth mode you'll get chewed up by another air vehicle- 3 years ago
Perhaps a compromise would be to either:
1) Increase lock-on time when targeting a heli in stealth mode
2) Remove the persistent lock feature. If you lose LoS with the SOFLAM the lock breaks immediately- no more 5sec grace period. Missiles fired with a lock assist still track even if SOFLAM lock breaks while in flight.
Also, allow Lis's launcher to benefit from the SOFLAM. Lis's introduction was a big nerf for the SOFLAM. Before 100% of launchers could benefit. Now only 66% of launchers benefit. SOFLAM users have significantly fewer people to partner up with now.
- 3 years ago@SpudBug Agreed, whenever I see just flying high in the air in Stealth I don’t even care. The Little Bird is more effective then those new Helis. The lil Bird/ Nightbird is my go to every time.

@SpudBug “ The stealth helo
is doing nothing in stealth mode” Except dropping bombs and clearing objectives. Not to mention the gunner taking out vehicles and infantry.
You must people on these forums are completely idiots to say something so insulting to our intelligence.
Do you think we are all that stupid?- spudbug3 years agoSeasoned Ace@Zhukov211 I want you to make a real honest attempt at using any of the attack helis or jets and see how you perform with them. And how long you can keep them alive. I would bet that it changes your perspective and constant mission to get them removed from the game.
Also see how long it takes you to even spawn in one in a match. And how long it takes to get another one when a random Rao player shuts off your vehicle and kills you because the maps have no cover. - S3SSioN_SoL3 years agoSeasoned Ace@Zhukov211 I'm just a little bit curious... but how exactly does the gunner take out vehicles and infantry from a 650+ altitude? If they're lucky they might kill 1 person every 3 minutes. That's terrible compared to actually using the Stealth Heli to its maximum potential.
I can clear entire objectives whilst evading locks by weaving around cover and not because of the stealth or flares but because I'm a decent pilot. So the whole "they can drop bombs to clear objectives" is a really bad argument. Because I mean, it's called dropping bombs? What should the bombs do instead, not explode?
The gunner also can't damage heavy vehicles, the most they can do is EMP targets from a 650+ altitude.
Nothing about this playstyle is broken, because the pilot is contributing a quarter of what they could. And that's not even factoring in when the enemy Heli spawns and comes after them.
