@xpaydayx Ok, you stand by your "Rao is OP". Without any arguments. Hard to discuss on this basis.
Rao ia at the moment the only counter to the stealth helicopter, except Liz rockets as infantry. Rao's hack only disables the counter measures (you can use it before getting hacked) and to shoot. You can just fly away, nobody can do anything against it, then come back or just at another point, where no Rao is present. On the other side, the stealth helicopter can onehit kill groups of people through bombs and 30mm canon. If Rao is not present, it is very hard to counter it (hard to hit with M5), even harder, when you are getting one shot.
Additional, while Rao is hacking, he is defenseless against everything.
If Rao would be OP, I would expect high vehicle kill numbers (20 kills per round), or that helicopters are completely useless the round he is present. But that is not the case. More likely, there are stealth helicopter pilots with massive kill count. Also not the majority, but while it is possible for the pilots to get insane stats, for Rao, it is not (not because of his hacking).
So if Rao's hacking would be nerfed (should be the case, if it is OP), what would then the counter to stealth helicopters? Everybody has to rely on luck, by firing the M5 to kill it? And if Liz is the argument, everybody has to be forced to play her, just to do anything?
For me the fact is, if something has such a strong defense, as the stealth helicopter, it need weaknesses, other helicopters don't have. The 30mm canon is very strong, so are the bombs. There is no disadvantage... For example no flares or that it get killed by one rocket, instead of two. And to stay at the topic...
To make the Soflam work against stealth helicopter is a great idea, it supports teamplay and is a counter, every class can use, so you are not forced to play Liz or Rao.
2. based on your reasoning you're saying that if something isn't getting kills then it's not op, can you explain the spawn beacon nerf? Just because you're not absolutely raking in kills with a gadget/vehicle/specialist doesn't mean it shouldn't be fine-tuned.

@xpaydayx you are right, it doesn't have to get kills to be too strong. Fine tuning is always good. I just don't see, why it is OP, maybe you could underlay your words with some arguments. I see, that Roa's ability is strong against helicopters, but not so strong against the stealth helicopter. And what would your solution or change to Rao's OP'ness? Shorter range, shorter duration, delete the whole character? And yes, the 30mm cannon should be the same as the one on the other helicopters... Or even weaker, because, as I said, when the helicopter has such a strong defense, it needs to get some kind of weakness, at the moment it is just superior to the hokum and apache in every way.
- xpaydayx3 years agoRising Hotshot@Captain_Tachi I would say the range needs to be lowered to probably 175 or less when targeting aircraft and increased range against ground vehicles or they need to make it more effective at targeting ground vehicles. If a tank is camping behind some crates and you can see the top of it sticking out you should be able to hack it, the targeting is wonky especially when its traveling between trees and other small things like lamp posts. I don't think people realize how much aerial denial Rao brings when it's at 200 and the only maps where Rao is irrelevant is maps like Exposure (so literally 1 map?) because there is a giant cliff to dip and dodge around. All of the base maps are open fields with very little cover and infinite sight lines making Rao spammers just sit somewhere with the gadget and hold left click. Think of Manifest on Conquest, if the enemy team holds the middle sectors atop that hill and a Rao is camping in the area, he can deny the entire map lol. And yes, obviously the Hokum and Apache got nerfed, there's really no point in using them anymore and it'll remain that way until they get buffed again which most likely won't happen. It's the classic DICE cycle, people have concerns about things and then they nerf it into oblivion only for the thing to never be used again. Rao simply has too much range considering each team is made up of 32-64 specialists and several of them are Rao. Also, Rao should remove the reticle of a red dot when hacking infy.

Nerf the only operator able to do something against the stealth helis? Are you insane?
If the stealth heli player is good he will use his flares to counter the hack, disappear behind some cover and come back to kill the Rao.
Today I played Rao in breakthrough defense and the enemy heli pilot ripped us a new one because he did what I just explained.
Before I left out of frustration he was 33 to 0 and I died like 6 times to him, even though I hacked him at every opportunity.
Rao is in a good spot balance-wise, but the helis are just insane OP.
Nerf the bombs, nerf the 30mm and make the SOFLAM work. Boom, problem solved...
