@sk1lld Interesting news article. Over 70% of EA's revenue is from live services. I read about Sony laying off hundreds of people too.I find the article author's theory as to why all these layoffs are happening in the video game industry interesting. They speculate it's due to video game executives expecting sales to continue increasing after covid. Since that didn't happen they're now closing down studios and laying people off.I personally think it also has to due with inflation which is causing the majority of customers to become poorer with less income to spend on games.

I have to go with that he left on less than good terms. Like some have said there would have been an announcement. In any terms this is not good!

Yeah, my assumption is if he left on good terms there would've been an announcement or message.
Just 3 weeks ago he posts a picture of his team and what looks like 6 days ago he "left" the company. For someone that high, that is not normal. It either doesn't bode well for Battlefield, doesn't bode well for him, or both.
More than likely they are probably going down a creative route he was not going to put his name on. I suspect Specialists will be back and all of them will be non-binary.

I feel my depression and anxiety are getting worse by now. Battlefield is still serie on console market which place hasn't properly been challenged. Battlefield can just kill itself's success by doing opposite what everyone wants.

Ridgeline is/was the studio that EA setup in Seattle to focus on the 'storytelling' side of Battlefield. I take that to mean single player.
As a Seattle native it was exciting to have a Battlefield studio in town, but single player Battlefield doesn't move the needle for me. Despite ~1000hr in BF1 and BF5 I never played those campaigns.
I thought a dedicated studio for Battlefield singleplayer was a strange move. I'm guessing EA came to the same conclusion and shut it down. If so I hope they double down on multiplayer and redirect that money to DICE Sweden.
