You guys nailed it with a diverse character selection. I was happy to see solid inclusion in a title focused on global combat but the ableism doesn't really make sense. This far into the future, handicapped people would easily be able to join the fight. Take the ranger for instance. No reason a combat 'wheelchair' of 2042 couldn't be a quadrupedal platform, even the most disabled patron could use to great effect. It's ok if you guys don't have the budget to add it to DLCs but you're missing a huge opportunity here. The tech of tomorrow affords you massive potential for including those less fortunate but still willing to fight. Would make for some amazing PR in an otherwise rocky launch. Thanks for your consideration and keep up the good work.

@Atroxvyeah and we need also to be able to choose our gender (among at least 258 known genders and counting) and our hair color to make sure nobody is oppressed. Who cares about all the bugs when we have ableism in a game ? That should be EA's Priority N°1 (with hair color)

Not every game needs to make social, political, cultural or any other statements and also not every game needs to include everything and everybody. Same goes for movies, books and any other kind of entertainment.

I can't recall seeing any reeeeeeeeeee about the inclusion of Octane in Apex Legends.It doesn't even have to be about making a statement; as many people as possible seeing their own realities reflected in fiction is to be welcomed.Besides, it's just a cool idea.I suspect that had the suggestion not been couched in terms of ableism, it wouldn't have generated such a hostile response from so many. As always, threads like these also serve to highlight issues in society and, sadly, how many people don't want their bubbles burst.

Some of the comments in this thread is are daming indictment of today's society, gamers especially. Sad times.....

@AuMordum I'm dead serious. The best part about this bf release is it's the future. These limitations can easily be navigated with the tech of tomorrow. Giving us a huge opportunity to include a large part of society that otherwise feels left out when it comes to combat and service. Furthermore, a robotic, quadrupedal solider would be really cool and add an exciting element to the game. It's a win for everyone but especially those less fortunate.

@Anaghya It's not even about making a statement. It's just being kind and inclusive when the opportunity is a relative breeze to realize. The technology of tomorrow will make it super easy to include the disabled in the fight while also adding a really cool aspect to the game. New characters are coming anyways. You don't think it would be fun to play as a quadrupedal killing machine?

Not much, at least not in Battlefield (although I can imagine it in some other game). What I meant is that any game doesn't need to include anything just because there is some demand for it, if such demand doesn't fit a creative vision and is not coherent with it. Doesn't matter too much if that demand is made by players just because they can or is dictated by some social movement and atmosphere. Technology and so on is a nice thing, but just because the game creators can do something doesn't necessarily mean they should. 😉

@Anaghya It's the battle field of tomorrow. Who are you to say that quadrupedal terminators manned by warriors crippled in previous engagements are not only valid but pragmatic approaches to future warfare? That's the beauty of the future, my friend. One is only limited by their imagination.

@Atroxv That's the dumbest comment I've ever seen. There shouldn't even be elderly people in this game. There are literally zero elderly people out on the battlefields fighting and the entire world. There's no reason to have an old lady as one of the specialists. And we definitely don't need roller warrior either.
