Matchmaking Question

Does matchmaking take skill, rank, etc, into account? Does that actually affect your gameplay?

Just like with the AI bot difficulty level, when they matchmake, are they also leveling the playing field for novice users?

It just feels that way sometimes. I go from a round of 30+ kills and 5 deaths, top of the scoreboard, to barely breaking even and none of my hits are registering.

At first, I was thinking it was tick rate, lag comp, and crossplay, but could it also be something to do with SBMM?
