My thoughts on the current weapon balance

I recently got back into the game right before the start of season 1.  I think some weapons feel like they're overperforming in some areas, so here we go, let's open pandoras box:

Pistols are fine except for the magnum, I think a ROF increase here could make this sidearm more attractive to players.

SMGs: Are overperforming accuracy wise on longer distances ( 30+ meters). Often I found myself outgunned by them when using LMGs/ARs on medium distance, simply because they had the higher accuracy and RPM. Especially the K30 and MP9 are really tiresome to die by now.

ARs: The AC-42 and AK-24 are fine in my opinion, however I think that the close combat ammo for the M5 is still a bit to good on medium range. Low recoil and high RPM once again seem to make this type of ammo better than for example the standard 5,56 ammo. Less damage on ranges of 25+ could be a solution.

The headshot damage or multiplicator of the SCAR-H seems a bit high, I often find myself one tapped when having lower health. Doesn't happen vs the other ARs.

LMGs so far seem fine to me.

Marksman rifles seem fine to me as well except for the BSV-M. With the Subsonic high power ammo and an automatic I think tha the TTK here is a bit to good here. In BF5 the BAR1918A2 had to damage values depending on the RPM, this could be applied here as well. 3hk when using semi automatic and 5hk for example when using fullauto. (for subconic high power and high power ammo that is.)

Snipers rifles: The NTW-50 should only be fired from proned/ bipod position. I get it the game is an arcade game but quick scoping with a 40kg anti material rifles is ridiculous. I did that multiple times and it is just cheap. I am fine with 1hk as it is an anti material rifle but having the same mobility as other sniper rifles is not ok. In Bf5 anti material rifles were also only usable from prone / bipoded position.

Shotguns: Flechette round needs a range nerf.

M5 Launcher rounds could use some velocity increasement,

    @Sch1ll1 I completely agree with your points.

    Magnum could be a bit faster since the game is a complete Arcade Grinder. SCAR-H sometimes drops quickly the enemies indeed.

    LMGs are hard to use now tbh and I don't see too many players playing with them. The first LMG is really slow.

    SMGs probably have longer effective distances because of map design for 128 players.

    M3A5, AK24, and AC-42 are fine.

    DMRs are fine.

    NTW-50 should never fire except for prone stance and bipod position indeed.

    I have no idea about shotguns.

    SRAW Lis's side weapon could launch a bit slower and then gain momentum to better aim at the targets.

    Are you Schilli with four numbers in the game 1...?
  • @Sch1ll1 Smgs need damage of range lowered as well...

    As far as the scar.. umm no it does not need a nerf it has higher recoil and lower rate of fire then other ARs so it should hit harder. You lower its damage you may as well delete the gun.

    Agree on the SMG's and Anti-Material rifle.  They are my biggest pain points.

    SMG's feel like a no compromise option, a mid-range nerf is needed.

    Anti-Material rifle is just obnoxious.  Anything to limit its use would be appreciated.  

    Shotguns are still broken on PS4, though that's more of bug than a balance issue.  (There's a bug that seems to limit the first shot damage to 20dmg max.  A shotgun that can't 1HK in CQC isn't much of a shotgun)

  • The LMGs are actually really bad right now, worse than ever. It´s like they don´t even hit the target when it´s right infront of you. The hitreg is awful in the game overall but the light machineguns are worse than anything else at the moment.  You can do a loooong burst at spitting distance and not get hits to register.

    The SMGs are way too good over distance, and too god up close too to be honest. An assaultrifle should always be the better gun, as it is irl. The pistol calibre smgs are weak and nobody uses them in combat anymore. Only police use them for shooting at non-armored bad guys in hostage rescue type situations and even there.. most have short barreled ARs.

    As much fun as SMGs are, they are outdated in combat. 9mm and 45 acp just doesnt make the cut anymore.

    But the worst guns in all of BF2042 are the mounted ones, all of them. They have been nerfed to oblivion. A 20/30mm automatic cannon has longer ttk (time to kill)  than a pistol.. a pistol. A faceshot with a cannon does not kill.. you need 4 more. Wtf dice?  The miniguns are completely useless because they don´t hit anything. A 1 second burst/hit with a minigun in real life puts 50 rounds on target.. 50! In BF2042.. it´s virtually useless.
