Huh, you just contradicted yourself. Before Specialists players could NOT do anything they wanted.
2042 was not successful which is why they returned to the new hybrid class system.
Judging by the Steam no., there were 3 times as many players playing the game with the introduction of a new map & new weapons in Season 3 rather than the last update with the "new class system".
That makes me believe the BF 2042 loyal fan base preffers new content (maps, weapons, QoL improvements) over bringing back outdated legacy features like class system.

some "legacy features" are not outdated. i'd rather be able to join a squad, leave a squad, play on my own, or kick a player from squad (you know, squad management) than this half measure class crap. same with persistent servers that had a real rotation and players stayed in the server until they CHOSE to leave. somehow those things are considered "legacy features"
