If they decide to go this way they can. But they cannot expect me to buy there game any more then. Maybe they should better search for a new target group then because that seems to work so well with this title...
Even from an economic position this is insane. You have a franchise that has build up a good reputation for things they did in the past. Battlefield has shaped an own identity. Now they want to give this up and become like other franchises out there. Why would you give up this unique selling point for a market where there is big competition and other games having more experience doing that stuff. That is like I was a well respected car manufacturer in the luxury segment and suddenly decided to switch over to cheap compact cars. I mean you can do that, but good luck keeping your customers.

Nobody is forcing you to buy the game.
Can you please explain how a company trying to expand their business by bringing in new customers is "economically insane" as you put it?
BMW, AUDI and Mercedes to name only a few have all started making small affordable cars in the last 15 years.......
