Some type of better matchmaking for lobbys probobly based on KD. Start the game with consoles only xbox/ps and then have the option to cross-platform with pc and you will more then likely keep lobby...
Of all the similar threads I've read about cross-play, you're the only one I've seen that did not want M&K support. From what I've read, M&K support is what everyone has been begging for. You could still continue to use your controller if you wish. I'd much rather Dice give console players M&K support than to give them legalized cheats for playing with a controller. I'm actually confused as to why there is no M&K support for console players in this game, while PC players have the option to play with a controller.
Let's hope Dice gets all this nonsense sorted out for the next BF release.

Forum posts represent maybe 1% of the player base. Of course everyone on the forums go for M&K. The other 99% casual players that are not on forums i bet don't want M&K support.
I personally want no crossplay at all. I gladly give up aim assist and other helpers against PC players if i can play in console lobbies only. And i have to stress this again: a toggle will not work. As i said before more and more people will turn crossplay on to find a lobby faster and it will lead to the current situation. Let's stop fixing crossplay issues. Let's do the obvious that worked for 20 years: delete crossplay from the game entirely. I know console players do not want to play against PC players. Are PC players ok playing against other PC players only? If yes, it is solved. Lets get rid of the damn thing.

@JOGAGATYAYou and I both really do not know what the majority of players want, but those who do speak out, are the ones going to be heard. And I've seen many asking for M&K support on various BF forums. Not sure why you wouldn't want that, especially if cross-play is to continue in the next BF game. No, that won't solve all that is wrong with cross-play, as network-related issues are one of the main reasons I dislike cross-play. Often, it seems like I'm having to empty an entire clip into someone to kill them, or I'm being killed from behind cover. And sometimes, the kills I get just do not feel justifiable. They feel cheap and scripted, to be honest. Same with a lot of the deaths I've experienced. I feel I've had a lot of BS deaths when I should've been the one to have easily gotten the kill.
I doubt they'll do away with cross-play for the next BF game, but I'd be okay with it if they did. I know why cross-play exists, but if it's not a great experience, people will quit playing. I'd rather have a small player base and fun experience, then a massive player base and poor experience.
I personally got a console to get away from the M&K experience. I wanted to casually play on the couch comfortably on a big screen TV. I do that since BF Bad Company. It's been a great experience. Until BF2042 with crossplay. All my friends agree. If the next title gets M&K support and crossplay is still there, i will wait with the purchase a few months and see if non crossplay lobbies work or not. See if enough players play with crossplay off. If i can't get the excellent experience we had on console for the last 15-20 years, sadly that is the end of BF for me. In a fast paced FPS game like this, there is no place for a poor network performance caused by crossplay. It works in games like Sea of Thieves but NOT in Battlefield. 🙁
@JOGAGATYAThere is nothing inherent to crossplay that would make the game take 200ms+ to register shots, if at all, or any of the other networking (and sight alignment, and wonky hitboxes, and other) issues 2042 has. Don't make assumptions about 2042's netcode. If debugging it were to fall on the community (it shouldn't...), there's a serious lack of tools for that, and even general information on how it works. A good chunk of 2042's bad netcode was, and to an extent can still be observed alone in bot servers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ThHfw_-m3s They're also 20hz, but mentioning that I don't want to feed into the misconception that 45hz is so much lower than 60 and would make your bullets register half a second later. That is not happening, there is just no way that would fix it.
People probably wouldn't even be able to tell. https://youtu.be/a9kw5gOEUjQ?t=122
Crossplay does not strictly mean being forced to play with people with M+KB. It means playing across different platforms. Consoles have supported M+KB since at least the PS2, if not even before that, and most PC games support controllers. That the vast majority of devs didn't want to implement M+KB in their console games, their problem. Times are changing and people are coming to their senses and implementing M+KB for console shooters because shooting with a plain controller is dumb. There is also gyro aim - PS only, IDK why Microsoft ignored it again, it lets you aim pretty much on par with a mouse. It's a pretty big deal, and it would give an advantage to PS players over Xbox ones. Should one console's players be held back by the other?
Fortnite (among others) has M+KB on console. Call of Duty offers all of this with no problem. Its matchmaking is determined by input method and not platform. And that's how it should be. Many games offer gyro aim, even on the Switch, though 2042 isn't on that.
You can use a PC from your couch just as much as you can a console.
