TTK was already pretty low in 2042 especially considering the greater distances you fight people at, which I guess is by design because the maps are bigger.
I personally dislike it, the whole point of bipods, scopes, DMRs, snipers or even AR vs SMG is that there should be a very noticible difference when fighting medium to long range. But in most engagements there is little to no difference. The whole FOV ADS means it's easy to control recoil even longer ranges and the 3D spotting helps with finding targets even if you can't see them so little to no need to use different scopes. Benefits do not outway the costs.
It's partially due to the lack of recoil but I guess mostly the lack of spread with prolonged fire. Having to burst fire would add a lot to the TTK because you have pretty long interuptions when firing.
If they wanna correct this they gotta do a pretty big overhaul of the in game balance to be honest.
Yes I personally noticed a pretty big difference after the recoil fix, playing in the more open maps is just horrible, you are being shot down so quickly from anything and everything all at once. Smoke is my new best friend, and a necessity almost.
Increasing recoil to increase the TTK isn't a good option because DICE will just add a bunch of recoil for mouse players and then reduce the recoil by 25% for controller players.
They could add more spread during long bursts of fire (meh random deviation!) which would affect both controller and mouse players equally. That would probably be the best option.
- 3 years ago@OskooI_007 I think the spread during the longer burst is a good idea but I think it needs to be more than just tweaking the accuracy of these weapons. Each type of weapon should have different traits. For example, with the SMG should be good hip firing and accurate to about 20m any distance after that they can't hit anything accurately(you could also add a moment bonus because of the size of most SMGs). Have the ARs be good close to mid-range but with a slower ADS, less accurate hip fire, and depending on the AR if it is good long distance. Bring the suppression mechanic back to the LMGs with the caveat that they are only really accurate with a bipod and prone to overheat. As for sniper rifles, they should be accurate only in crouching and prone but not able to rapidly fire accurate shots in succession. Marksmen Rifles can be a toss-up between ARs and Sniper Rifles.

Yeah I'm having a really bad problem with console/controller players just beaming and getting like 5 hits all at once when I already did 90+ damage to them. I am unsure if it is TTK or desync, or lag probably as well, but its like I keep getting insta-killed by Xbox Wifi people (can see them chop/stutter in death cam) while having actual real-time gunfights with other PC players. The vast majority of times I'm like 'wtf how did I die' it's from a console player, while the vast majority of times I'm like 'yeah, he got me' it's a PC player. You can easily call what platform the player who killed you is playing on. Is that intended? Not to mention the instances of getting shot behind cover and loads of observable desync being as well, especially since the last update.
At the end of the day I am unsure what the fix is for these problems but I know I'm not the only one experiencing them. Was 2042 optimized for console/controller players? Aiming with a mouse is much more akin to aiming in real life than with sticks. Not to mention the innate hardware differences, I was talking to my co-worker today who was pumped on his new purchase of a PS5 for $450, and I was like yeah cool I paid $900 for my GPU (he plays CoD tho). While I understand the need for including more players I can't shake the feeling I'm always "brought down to their level and beaten with experience" you know what I mean?
