@patizi1The game does have a compass, but I feel like it needs improving. I'm not that sorely disappointed in it, since in-game pings are quite noticeable.
The compass should highlight the direction of your squadmate's pings relative to your position to the ping.
The full map and deploy map should also be zoomable.
Compass is bottom middle of HUD but only for infantry. For whatever reason, they remove the compass when in a vehicle.
@NoodlesocksIt's there for some vehicles, like the Heli Gunner.

I guess it's only the drivers that don't get to see the compass since it's replaced by the vehicle status icon?
