No players?
Are the servers down? And by servers, I mean the 2 AoW servers left. I Cant find any players, portal has no US servers With more than 10 people. AoW only finds 2 servers which are always the same...

That is the MM magic at work. With a Server Browser you could at least queue for a full server and get in when a player drops. Now all you can do is sit in the MM queue and enjoy the elevator music.
The global player count in BF2042 is simply just bottoming out.
On STEAM we have now long periods with less than 1,000 active players on the BF2042 game. And that is the global world-wide number. Hence the number of active players in any given region, which makes sense to play together, is much less.
So even with a server browser, this situation would not be much different, except of course, we would finally get full transparency to how grave this situation truly is for BF2042 and this DICE franchise...
But we would have the option to both select and also wait to join a give server, where we can see that we truly still have active real-human players. Hence, also worthwhile to wait for to join. That is actually the situation and advantage we still have in the old BF4 game environment. Full visibility to all live servers, what game modes they host, how many players are on them and what maps they run. All the absolute basics to serve the customers/players that we of course are missing in the BF2042 game.

The server browser also adds a base for any kind of turnaround.
Match making is a system not designed around the needs of players, if its the only option. Without the server browser as well, its just a way for EA/Dice to save money on servers.
However, the combination of a server browser with an MM system (quick match) works best for all concerned.
If you want to just get home from work or school and drop in and out of a few rounds, mm is a perfectly good solution. If, when you come home, you want to join up with a few dozen friends to have an organized scrim, the server browser is what you need.
Point is, a healthy battlefield community serves both sets of interests. When the game itself drives organized players away, the casual players have less opportunity to find populated servers. Because organized players don't just clan stack, they also will play as individuals in order to gain xp (and open up tools) or just to learn the maps. They create a base level of play which enables the casual players to find games.
Dice have made an enormous error of judgement when they decided with BFV, and doubled down with 2042, to stop serving organized players.
