No Resolution scale option in the menu

why does battlefield 2042 not have a rosolution scaler, like battlefield 4? This makes it very easy to upscale the resolution.

  • Easy yes, but Nvidia and AMD offer superior upscaling methods with better image quality.

Nvidia offers Image Sharpening upscaling and DLSS upscaling. AMD offers Radeon Super Resolution upscaling and FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 upscaling. DICE hasn't added FSR support, but RSR works on most graphics cards.

I have a Nvidia 1060 and the Image Sharpening upscaling looks way better than the in-game upscaling in Battlefield 1. Granted I turn TAA off in BF1 which helps a lot, but I'm talking over 2x better image quality upscaling 960p up to 1440p using Nvidia's upscaling.

How to Enable Nvidia Image Sharpening Upscaling:

You can use your GPU to render at a lower resolution and scale to native for higher performance. To set up image sharpening globally for all games, go to the NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Global Settings > Image Sharpening > and select "GPU Scaling"

Once upscaling is enabled, all resolutions at or below your native resolution will be upscaled by the GPU. For instance, if you have a 2560x1440 display, but set your game resolution to 1920x1080 because the game is too demanding for your current GPU, we’ll upscale the game’s graphics to 2560x1440 using a high-quality scaler, and then add a dose of sharpening to improve clarity of upscaled images.

That is a helpful guide, thanks for sharing. 👍

  • @OskooI_007 what you mean is something else... What you mean is the resolution is set the resolution lower, and that wiil rendered at the resolution that max your display allows. I'm talking about a resolution scaler that you can scale up to match your 4k image, the super sampling method... way better looking!!

Nvidia and AMD have downscaling features too. Nvidia calls it Dynamic Super Resolution and AMD calls it Virtual Super Resolution. Both render the game at a higher resolution and then downscales the image to a lower resolution.

    Nvidia.com

Our latest Game Ready Driver adds DLDSR (Deep Learning Dynamic Super Resolution), an AI-powered enhancement of NVIDIA DSR, which renders a game at higher, more detailed resolution before intelligently shrinking the result back down to the resolution of your monitor. This downsampling method improves image quality by enhancing detail, smoothing edges, and reducing shimmering.

DLDSR improves upon DSR by adding an AI network that requires fewer input pixels, making the image quality of DLDSR 2.25X comparable to that of DSR 4X, but with higher performance. DLDSR works in most games on GeForce RTX GPUs, thanks to their Tensor Cores.
