Noshahr Canals base spawn locations

I played Noshahr Canals on Battlefield 3, and it was one of the best maps, in my opinion, for conquest.  But as I recall, the Russian aeroplanes spawned on the ground; the American planes / helis spawned on the aircraft carrier.  American troops also spawned on the aircraft carrier, and either had to use a RHIB or a water-borne vehicle to get to shore.

So I appreciate this is an old map on a new game, but I'm just curious why none of the vehicles in 2042 are amphibious?  The Vodnik and Amtrac were amphibious in BF3, as were the LAV 25, BMP 2M, and the BTR 90; even the Bolte is amphibious in real life (Riptide).

And with the canals being an integral part of the map, having the ability to traverse these waterways in these vehicles (not to mentions RHIBs), to flank the enemy, was a great idea.  Would EA not consider bringing these features back again?  I think it would add to the player experience.

And whilst we're on this map, it seems that a player can sit in the Centurion C-RAM (the ship-borne AA) on BF2042 with absolutely no fear of coming to harm.  I've hit it with several missiles to no avail.  At least in BF3 it was possible to lock on to the C-RAM with air vehicle AG missiles /  and take it out.  Maybe that could be another consideration?

  • @W4RD0G71 Well there's not a lot of water about but I'm pretty sure the MAV is amphibious. I have a vague memory of driving it on the edges of the Exposure lake to flank from RU base to A flag.

@Tank2042Man I must try it 🙂 but my experience is that most vehicles sank ☹️ I do recall driving a vehicle, I thought it was the MAV, into the harbour and it sank; it might have been the CAV, but I'll check and report back.
  • And I forgot to mention earlier, the US heavy vehicles spawn in the right side of B area, behind the warehouse.  I've lost count of the number of times I get wiped out as I spawn (after the game has started of course), because either a Bolte has left mines, or an engineer.  It's a bad design, having US vehicles spawn in an area where the enemy has access; this area ideally needs to be out of bounds to the Russians, and there should be more than one way out, as the entrance usually gets heavily mined as well.

@Tank2042Man +XP for that, The MAV is indeed amphibious, and not surprisingly so is the hovercraft. It would still be good though, if more vehicles were the same.
