I was thinking that maybe upon launch only Season 1 content was ready.
So once they had that bad launch/quarter and basically stopped any new development on the game, they used the 4 original maps from Season 1 and spread them over the 4 seasons.
I am sure the other content will be thin as well. 10 original specialists but only 4 new ones in 18 months post launch? Watch how few weapons and gadgets we get per season. I bet it was all originally S1 stuff spread over an entire year and 4 seasons.
You could very well be right, I mean one new map is just a drop in the ocean after all this time.
Coupled with MM restrictions you might not even realise it's there.
Season one is way too thin on the ground to attract new players, it will be lucky to even retain the current player base.
- RMEChief3 years agoLegend@RayD_O1 DICE is clearly putting minimal effort into any new development for this game. We got what we are going to get.
Like the Specialists changes, only cosmetic, and won't be seen until Season 2. The only cosmetics I care about are them having different skins for each faction, who cares about facial hair? - RayD_O13 years agoHero

People need to remember that they are supposedly going to start bringing some of the best portal maps to AoW too. So in a way those are also "new" maps.
Several of those portal maps are really great and worth reusing.
I could never get tired of Caspian Border

Furthermore, they did not even announce what new maps they bring to Portal. Out of the 6 we have, one is atrociously bad (El Alamein), the rest is OK to good/very good, but not viable options for 128 players, so they could only add them to CQ Small.
I personally hope for some infantry centered maps making their way into Portal and then also the main game, but if they bring the best maps (Bazaar, Epicenter, Talah Market, ...) they all also cater to smaller player numbers.
But even if they bring the bigger maps like Strike At Karkand or Wake Island (that made their appearance in several older titles already), they would all be much better than what we have now. So I won't complain if these are added instead of the maps I think this game needs most with attention or sole focus on infantry play. - RMEChief3 years agoLegend@DuaneDibbley oh I agree, I would love Bazaar and Argonne as well as others like Oman or Karkand. That would be acceptable, but adding existing portal maps to AOW is not "new". Adding new "legacy" maps to both would be acceptable though.

So 1 map in 7 months, then how many after all seasons are done? 2, 3?
If so, they may be looking at a class action lawsuit; however I don't recall what was actually promised when I bought early access.

@skates15It is going to be one "new" map per season. So 11 total after 19 months. I don't think they promised any number, so we are skrewed.11 maps total, that would be somewhere around the number we would have expected the game to launch with.
The game is stale due to lack of maps and the restrictions MM imposes on playing the maps.
I honestly don't believe the game can survive with those projected map numbers. ☹️
