OK I get that BF2042 can be a real mess at times, but something that is bothering me is just how op the SMG's are at range. I mean I've been dropped so many times in a straight up gunfight even though I'm using an Assault rifle that I'm starting to wonder if there's any point to Assault rifles at all in this broken game.
Yes currently there is no point using ARs over SMGs.
I have no idea how Dice allowed SMGs to be better at medium/long range engagements.
Totally agree with this! I get melted by an SMG from distance which is un-achievable by an SMG. Also, the SMG has no recoil at any distances, the assault classes have stupid levels of recoil.....
The issue is Bloom. It always applies to its fullest extent regardless of if you ADS or not. Which means gun performance is directly linked to how small the Bloom is.
I.e. SMG and DMR are effective at all ranges accounting for bullet drop and AR / LMG are firing bullets into space.
What's bloom, sorry?
You know how in hip fire your on screen crosairs expand. If you drew a curved line between them, it creates a circle. That's the bloom area.
Basically any bullet you fire can go in any direction within that circle. In BF2042 it's like your hip firing ALL the time. Most games with ADS reduce your bloom massively when using ADS making 90% of your shots go on target.
But not BF2042. It applies. Always. And as you might notice AR and LMG have the biggest blooms. Conversely, DMR and SMG have much smaller areas allowing them to out perform other weapons at all ranges.
So by ADS your only hurting yourself as it provides no true benefit but slows your movement down.
@D-Manic73Just use the SVK DMR. It’s a 2 shot kill weapon, even to the body.
@D-Manic73Same. PP-29 overpowered. AR's are useless, especially AK wich has 52 damage on scale and M5 has 50 with "less" recoil. For me almost all wepons needs rebalance :D
Also bullet spread is so flustrating. I dont know who was testing this game before launch but this guy should to be fired.
